Lovely build, really looks like it's got the bonnet up.

Not seen a detail set for the Mig 15 before.

Thanks for sharing

cheers Rich

Thank you Rich

The detail is made by Aires, and contains a lot of resin! I had a lot of trouble finding one, as it's likely now OOP, but did find one here, cost a bit, but worth it.

Damn!!!  Just when I thought I could put that Tamiya Mig on the back-burner you go and do this -  good work!  Nmf is always the challenge and you pulled it off well.

I have the Tamiya kit with KMC cockpit (resin/etch).  Initial fit of parts is good and parts are taped together waiting for the 'rivet treatment'.  Stalled about there.  Let's see if I can get her back on the bench in place of one of these infernal armour projects!

Hi Jerry

What are waiting for? Get it finished!

Honestly, this kit is brilliant, it goes together with no issues at all. It's a typical Tamiya.

Thanks for the praise on the NMF. I use Vallejo's Metal Colours paints, which are great. Airbrush well, and no issues with masking tape pulling it off. I paint different shades on various panels, and hatch covers. To me, this gives a more natural look. Once weathered, I gave the whole airframe a light coat of Matt varnish. This tones the NMF down a bit, so it's not too shiny. Again, I think this looks more natural, as not all bare metal aircraft are that shiny.

Super effort !! I noticed that you used the Vallejo metal paint. How did you vary the metal finish on some of the panels ? Thanks for posting.           Bob H.

Thank you Bob.

In response to your asking about he finish. I paint different shades on various panels, and hatch covers. To me, this gives a more natural look. I also used Tamiya weathering master "Soot" on some of the panel centres, which darkens them a bit. Once weathered, I gave the whole airframe a light coat of Matt varnish. This tones the NMF down a bit, so it's not too shiny. Again, I think this looks more natural, as not all bare metal aircraft are that shiny.
