Did you really have to put that image into our heads? :puke: If I have nightmares tonight, I will know who to blame! :chair:

That made me remember Mark Gatiss' Doctor Who episode Cold War, which gave us the full detail of what a Martian looks like1 under his armour... :hypnotised:. Which is responsible for many of my subsequent nightmares... :door: :spider: :yikes:

Thanks again for all your lovely input into this build. Super quick update.

we have a mat top coat which seems to have dulled the scratches much to i'm sure the Joy of the Red planets inhabitants.;) and some of the canopy masking off. Looking pretty good, luckily no under spray.

the mat still has a shine at this scale but not too much. Also Just for Mr Barron.

I've put the bars on. Paint next!

4. Bf 109 E-4/B: this is the closest that I could find of something like your 109, Johnny; an E-4 being bombed up. If you squint, you can see that the port wheel well cover has been removed - revealing your detail :). Note also the aerial detail abaft the mast, and the 'sooty'1 exhaust stain:

Cheers,

1 The type of film used may or may not have accentuated the exhaust mark (by the end of the war such marks would definitely have been from soot as the octane ratings of German fuels plummeted)

Thanks for all that Alex might have to do something nice on the old 250. ;)

I'm out of likes again! Grrrrrr !

Never mind.

The 109 looks superb John. Just right on the weathering. I've never done any weathering at all, I'm always scared of ruining whatever I may have achieved with the 'real' paint. All of this weathering stuff is a learning experience for me and great to watch.

The bomb really looks good :thumbsup2: .

I hope you can find somewhere really prominemt to display this Emil. Are you going to do a nice base for it? It would look good on a grass like surface, the green would give fabulous contrast.

:goodjob:

Thanks TT. As it happens the very night after I find out it wouldn't  fit in the cabinet, I look on eBay and there's the perfect one for sale from a local cafe in a garden center.  It was used for Cakes, any way I only won it and only paid £20. Yay! So the Emil is safe from dust.:yahoo:

mad for weathering, give it a go. I'm thinking of doing an old abandoned one next just so I can go CrAzY.

TonyTiger is right!

Buy a couple of garden gnomes, put them on your lawn on either side of the 109...

This would make a statement like nothing else would, while the green of the grass and the red of the pointy hats would set your weathering to perfection!

Is this the noise of grinding teeth that I can hear?

Your 109 looks absolutely smashing!

Hey yooouuuuu gguysssss. Gibber, grump, wibble.:violin:

sorry, I'm going a little loopy through model deprivation. The house has broken yet again this weekend, not content with the radiator and pipe leaks last weekend I have another leak in the drainage under the sink!! so Johnny fix it to the rescue. which means no Emil.:o making me sad. on the plus side, I picked up the new cabinet and she fits inside. :king: aaand to make things better the wife had to work late tonight which means I got a little bench time.:yahoo:

Before I start this is what got done from Thursday to today.

6914185D-CBCF-47F5-9C56-FFC1CBC7EAD2_zpsjeoli65r

such work! impressive huh. That little bolt hole thing was all I had time for, that and the primer. So tonight saw some progress. Canopy masking off.

9E8C41F3-6CD5-43A4-B297-8B33BED1E68C_zpswcybaxwp

That'll do considering the horrendous fit of the thing. A wee bit of touching up but nothing major.

I almost forgot about the bullet screen thing.

1FBDD13A-911D-4F29-A629-9CE22752852B_zps6trauzon

sink hole tastic. so Mr S to the rescue.

1C404C30-281A-4C34-B013-3AB437EB49A6_zpsxrrthluw

That needs to dry now so onto the exhausts.

I'm going to make em look used so light tan mottling first. Thinned Tamiya acrylic.

A05DB04B-75EE-4554-8A36-A80DDDE537D5_zps0hn5pduz

let that dry for 15 mins then brown filter, same again.

12D3CF64-C72A-42B4-AB96-612DC1047B1B_zpsuwcxjfmi

don't worry I need to darken and stain up with these.

18D3AC45-EEA2-4994-AB5D-BF73F0BDE96A_zpsih9cvf5n

light pencil scratches and they're in.

BE2D0E3B-E620-420A-8F1A-4D1C901D436A_zpsgx0cngif

look, real proper progress. Madness I tells ya. It doesn't stop there. We have tyres, rubber ones? With seams? What the how?

9B6991E4-6162-4F93-92C1-CD4872D95528_zps2vud8dbi

so not quite knowing what to do I sand em which kind of works, while thinking about the tyres and when to weather them I do a light scratch pass on the wing walk area.

8042A505-620D-408F-B878-A6366E1F7944_zpsjm2xgcg8

then decide to bung the tyres on and weather them all in one go.B)

B9F8D9EA-BBFE-494D-91CD-003A1A1A734B_zps3keiulbi

I'm  really diggin' those.

the cowl got a bit of plasticard added for the fit to ..... well fit, and there we are. Oh the prop got primed too.

C82FBDB2-B950-4D47-84B4-7680F88C9B03_zps8p9j92gd

Oh and if you look super close the rear wheel post is on the end of that cocktail stick all painted and ready for a weather pass.

Any hoo I is pooped so bed calls. Thanks for sticking with this and all of your wonderful help and encouragement.

see ya'll tomorrow.

model night official.:yahoo:

As alway. Happy modelling.

Excellent work Johnny! :thumbsup2: your 109 is looking fantastic. The weathering in particular looks just right to me, and well done with the odd rubbery tyres. I wondered how you would sort those out. Top notch. Cheers Greg :clap2:

Thanks guys for all your kind words. Even though it's model night I've done a few bits and bobs but couldn't get going so I'm headed for a cheeky mid week red and a relax.

I popped her in the new cabinet, to get her out of the way while I finish off the last bits.(Pic for Mr TonyTiger)

609228F7-1FA0-4B30-9CEC-08EFFCE24A2D_zpsm50cikdq

The other cabinet is over the other side of the cave housing a singular Dalek.B) And ready for more kits. :yahoo:

The very last bits got cleaned up and primed.

96D48AB3-8394-4589-954C-FFAECBDFB3CE_zpsuw8itapk

I have to add the canopy handles and wire and the Rudder wires too but I'll put them on when I rig her.

The cowl got its front section added from plasticard and filled, I'll add lightning holes when dry and sanded.

78A70F95-D107-478D-8BC2-A7DA7F9AA854_zps8vfehfdj

not happy with that step in the photo I added Mr S to that part too.

then dragged her out of the box to fit the rear gear, which is a shocking fit so I've had to peg the blighter.

714CB2B0-15E4-40B0-9DEA-A08E89D3B204_zpsjyuy7eaz

Thats yer lot, now where did I put that wine.

take care guys and thanks for all the support.

Happy Modelling.

Johnny red.

The cabinet is an IKEA one called "klingsbo" as I said I got this one for £20 from eBay. Anything bigger than the 109 then I'm in trouble.

the cave is at the top of the house. It's taken me years to get it but at last it's mine, alll mmmiiiinnneeeeeeeee.:tooth:

until the boy grows up and claims it as his bedroom. :bangin:
