old thumper
Matchbox's 1979 Lancaster, No 9 Squadron the Tallboy option. My shot at this old kit, includes newly scribed panel lines, scrap parts from an old Airfix Lancaster and other little scratch bits like fuselage escape hatches. One of the things I like most about Matchbox kits is that they are an excellent blank canvas that allow me the freedom to depart from the instruction sheet and use my imagination. The kit was nice to build but we could still do with a new Tallboy Lancaster if you are reading this Mr Airfix. /I / Edited November 3, 2016 by old thumper
Darby
Ah yes; one of the many yearned for out of pocket money range kits of yesteryear. Did you get the Aussie decals in this one? Always thought that was a nice looking option.

Well that is the plan anyway.

cngaero
Now that looks good. Just another example of what can be done with an old and basic kit. Well done and thanks for sharing.
invidia
Looking good. love old matchbox kits, as you say a basic blank canvas. I love there biplanes siskin, fury and p12. each builds into a fantastic it with a little scratch building.
andrewfl290
It's surprising how good these old kits can look (and hold their own against much newer kits) with a bit of effort and skill. Lovely job, looks really nice.

goggsy
Christ on a bike, you don't see many of them built any more. That was always my dream kit as a kid, and one that forI never got around to buying for money reasons. Good work on this, looks very smart.

426
Another trip down memory lane. Even after all this time the box art was instantly familiar. Fab build, by the way. Certainly looks like a Lancaster! Nice one.
