gingerbob
Hi all, Well, I'm pulling myself away from the P-61 obsession for a moment. Being one of the co-hosts, I oughta declare my intentions. What with all these exciting new 1/48 Mustangs coming out (Meng now, see Hyperscale, and Airfix later) I guess I've got nothing to lose in attempting to slam together an old-fashioned (sic) 1/48 Tamiya P-51D. If I get really unrealistic I might also throw a B in there, but for now... bob p.s. Scheme still under consideration, though Down for Double is a strong possibility. gingerbob
Pics to follow- if Photobucket works better than the other day, or I find some other hosting solution The sidewalls of the fuselage halves have been "defaced" in preparation for resin replacement. They need a bit more work. A further complication is that I've long-since chopped the dorsal fin fillet off, and have an Ultracast filletless tail. That'll limit my markings choices, unless I turn out to have another D in the stash- certainly an ICM one, now that I think about it. I need to have a flip through the decal stash, because like most of us I have a number of sheets acquired against the day I want to do _____. My original plan for this kit, more than a decade ago, was to do "my" Mustang. Technically against the rules, but if I don't tell, you won't know the difference. So I hereby command you to forget I just said that... Another contender (if fillet restored) is a slightly postwar example from the 475th Fighter Group, indelibly associated with the P-38. I like the "wait, that's the wrong type!" look of it.
