Giorgio N
Very sad news, Bob Hoover was a true legend. He lived long though and through all his life he always spread his love for aviation to others, he may be gone but his heritage will live forever RIP

hairystick
An inspirational aviator and most certainly a stick and rudder man. I only found out recently that his escape from a P.o.W. camp and back to allied lines involved using a FW-190! A pilot has to fly, I guess. Thank you Sir, for showing us what can be done with an aircraft and a bit of talent behind the stick. RIP. Edit: A nice piece from NASM. https://airandspace.si.edu/stories/editorial/director-my-favorite-bob-hoover-story Edited October 27, 2016 by hairystick

72modeler
We will not see his like again. CAVU, Bob. I'm sure he and Eric 'Winkle" Brown are flying a two-ship even as we speak. Found a very nice tribute to him, and I have attached it below to compliment the one above submitted by JimBob. Had the pleasure of seeing him fly his P-51, a T-33, and the Shrike Commander at the same airshow- watching that Commander do a full aerobatic routine with both engines shut down was truly awe-inspiring! Smudge
Love how he flew that Commander in a suit and tie. Cool as a cucumber. Sad to hear of his passing, would have loved to see him fly.
