Mancunian airman
That engine is a beast, there must have been some power in that. Beautifully crafted example. paint scheme, subtle weathering and chips, museum quality

Thank you everyone for the very kind comments! Stealthman, the engine is from the Aires update set, which also includes the cockpit - the WIP is here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235002318-airfix-148th-spitfire-2224-with-aires-update-set/ There is quite a lot of work involved in thinning the fuselage to get it all to fit, and the top cowling (also in the set) hides a few gaps, but detail is stunning and benefits careful painting. The base kit though is one of Airfix best despite its age, the panel lines are as fine as you could want. Eduard reissued it a few years ago with the cockpit set included, you may still be able to find this around on a few shelves, though it is not listed as current on their website. Pete These are the kit decals with the exception of the fin flashes, which came from the Hasegawa Hurricane and are an exact match for size & design - thank god for standardisation! I did find the decals very thick with a ragged carrier film edge, they were prone to silvering (you can see it in some of the pictures) and needed a lot of Microsol to really get into the panel lines. The carrier film around the large underside identification code yellowed under varnish - hence no photos under there! I would recommend an aftermarket set if you can get one.

I have the Grand Phoenix Seafire FR47 which has a resin/PE engine and Cockpit and it has to be said it will build into a beautifully detailed model like yours.
