Rick Brown
Chaps. I'm about to spray Revell Aqua onto a model railway loco and was wondering what would be a good, tough, varnish to seal it all up? Bearing in mind this wil be a model that'll be handled occasionally. So far the primer is Halfords rattle can grey and I'll be spraying the Aqua over that. I can change to an enamal instead of the Aqua if required. I think I've found a good match in the Humbrol range. PhantomBigStu
Revell Aqua No1 is a superb gloss varnish

Greenshirt
The toughest varnish I've ever used is Future/Kleer. Always dries very hard (I give it 24–48 hours) and can be knocked down a bit with any clear satin coat. Lately I've experimented mixing Future as a thinner with water based acrylics (Humbrol, Model Master Acryl) for airbrushing and while the finish is glossier than typical it dries rock hard. Only used it twice: interior grey green on a Defiant and Gull Gray on a Wildcat.
Rick Brown
Yep, I think Future is the way to go with this one. It's my "clear" of choice, I just wasn't sure if it behaved itself over the top of Aqua. Rick.
Jusjay
I don't know how it goes over your paint but as it's acrylic too, it should be fine but I have started using tamiya x22 clear gloss and it is very good, very hard too gives a nice gloss finish in two coats.

PhantomBigStu
Heard Halfords is powerful stuff, may eat the decals and paintwork underneath
Rick Brown
I hoping to try a coat of Klear sometime soon. I'm pretty sure that'll do it. Rick.
