Bonhoff
Hi All, Picked this up last year at Hinckley, second hand sans original decals, But these were in the package too, So I guess I'll be doing "Old Yeller" then. I'll need to add a second seat and for true accuracy the cuffs need to come off the propellor blades but no one else would know chez Bonhoff so the second may not happen.

trickyrich
Well you won't be able to hide her with that colour scheme, she's certainly is bright! Bob Hover is certainly a legion, what he did in that Shrike Commander is almost beyond belief! Good luck with the build.

DannyB
Looking forward to this one, always see the hasegawa P-51D's for sale in this scale and would love to know how they go together! Great scheme too, you're certainly not going to miss it on the shelve once it's finished.
Bonhoff
First step was to quickly tape the airframe together to determine any fit issues. Seems OK. After that I quickly nailed the engine together. Not a hugely detailed lump. Now the cockpit which needs to be a 2 seater, have found some details online and made a start. Radio gear and fuel tank cut away, I'll fabricate the second seat to match what Hasegawa supply. Can someone confirm that the cockpit sides will have sound insulation? mungo1974
Great to see Old Yeller in the mix...quite poignant now as Bob Hoover passed away today

Bonhoff
As the weaponry is somewhat superfluous to civilian requirements, it'll have to go.... Blast tubes, stores pylons and cartridge ejection chutes all filled. Then there's the rivets - the kit is covered in (admittedly very fine) rivets - Half an hour of determined sanding and filling got me here on one upper wing. I'm assuming that the gun bays remained accessible?
Bonhoff
More progress, scratch built the second seat to (hopefully) match the first, I don't think the seats are truly correct for this aircraft but I'm trusting you lot not to point this out. Need to make some cushioning and tape belts next. The back half of the cockpit has had some soundproofing made from some rolled out Milliput too.
Bonhoff
Having got HMS Barham completed in the MTO GB I've gone for a push to get this one done. Hoping that as she's all one colour it'll be doable. A couple of evenings and a lunchtime saw the basic cockpit completed and the airframe too...
