arthurkrull
All, I was looking at 1/48th Aviattic German naval lozenge decals and noticed that they come on either white or clear decal film. What is the difference? (yes, I know one is printed on white and the other on clear decal film) Is one brighter? When to use the white lozenge vs. the clear? Thanks, Art
JackG
Could be just a personal preference thing concerning finishing techniques? Those printed on white should have more of a pure colour. The only advantage, I can think of, for the clear is they might be thinner, and allow pre-shading to show through? Without seeing them in person though, it's difficult to say. regards, Jack
Brandy
I think the idea behind the white was that it could be used for rib tapes. Aviattic decals are extremely translucent, ANYTHING painted on the wing will show through. This allows for very detailed pre shading to be done. Make sure you follow the instructions regarding the colour to paint the surface prior to decal application as any change will affect the colours in the decals. Bear Paw
I have the clear Aviattic print in 1/72. It is very subtle in colour and it has to be put on the correct colour as the background becomes part of the finish.
