zebra
A couple of book recommendations from me. Surprised I've not seen either of these books mentioned here - just finished reading Trials and Errors by Mike Brooke, and half way through his first book A Bucket of Sunshine. Mike Brooke was a Canberra pilot in the 60s, later became an instructor before going to the ETPS and RAE in the 70s. A Bucket of Sunshine is about his early RAF training and his time on Canberra B(I).8s with 16 Sqn, Trials and Errors covers his time with ETPS and RAE. Both good reads, very interesting and illuminating, particularly if you're interested in the RAF in the cold war or test flying in general.

Ptmvarsityfan
Very good books, well written, informative and often amusing. There is a third book, Follow Me Through, mainly covering his time instructing on Chipmunks before he moved on to test flying.
