Canadian Pirate
The love for Ray Harryhausen continues. After building one of the skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts I couldn't get skeletons off my mind. So we went to the well again with Charon, the Ferryman. He's here to take you on a lovely cruise of the River Styx. Remember to tip him well. As with the skeleton, Charon here is made mostly from wire and Sculpey, with a tree branch "liberated" from my neighbour's tree as his oar. His boat is popsicle sticks painted in acrylic paints, and the base is Celluclay on a bed of styrofoam, with craft rocks and sand for the shoreline (framed in more popsicle sticks). The mist (which I'm not 100% sure of keeping) is torn-up cotton and is an attempt at adding a little more creepiness to the whole scene. http:// http:// http:// http:// Edited October 8, 2016 by Canadian Pirate misspelled "Harryhausen"

spruecutter96
He looks like he could murder a pork-pie or two.... Seriously though, great job on building and painting and a subject that you really don't see every day. Thanks for sharing with us. Chris.

Thud4444
That's amazing! I'm a huge Harryhausen fan also. The classic movie channels have already started showing his films as part of the run up to Halloween. I've got a few stockpiled on the DVR. The Fog looks great.(that's the movie I watched last night, the Fog, lol) I don't understand why you would take it off. Unless it looks better in pictures than it does in person.

I was iffy about the mist mainly because I wasn't sure if it would look realistic or just messy (also it obscures the water). But after a few days I decided to keep it. It works. ...and The Fog is a great movie. At least the 1980 version is.
