Rick Brown
Just digging out some old projects. This is the Branchlines chassis and GEM body in 4mm scale. I actually built this in the early nineties, but have only just got round to creating a good enough finish to start painting it. After hunting in the loft I've found another couple of loco's and chassis' plus loads of rolling stock and 12mm track. Virtually all hand built/scratch built. I must have had much better eyesight in those days! I'm also impressed with my soldering skills back then too! A mix of scratch built and Branchlines wagons. The trackwork is a work of art! Although I've found some Peco 12mm pre-built. This makes a change from camo and wings. I'll upload some more pictures soon. Rick.

Billydick
Nice one Rick. Never seen this before, so it's going to be interesting. Hoping you're keeping well. BillyD
Anthony Kesterton
That finish looks pretty decent. Keep posting pictures please. anthony
Rick Brown
The worrying moment came, the removal of the masking for the black! It's actually not too bad. Just needs a little touch-up here and there. I'm having a little trouble finding some lining decals though. I need 0.5 mm white/black/white, any suggestions chaps? I could do them by hand, but there's loads! Rick.
Pete in Lincs
This does make a change. Odd shade of cockpit green. Nice work though and it is good to look back on builds of the past. The T34 on the IOM worries me though!
bigbadbadge
Very Nice Rick, those Branchlines Kits are great, can I ask what couplings you are using are they D&G. The IOM locos look gorgeous. Keep up the good work fella. All the best Chris

All the best Chris Sorry for the late reply, i really don't like the new style of BM and find there's too many button presses to get to anything. anyway, yes they are DG couplings. I did quite a bit of research into them years ago, but then stopped modelling. Due to this I can't vouch for how good they are yet. it could be a problem because all the stock uses pinpoint bearings so moves very easily. I suspect i may have trouble coupling up. rick. And why doesn't the combo of iPad and BM auto capitalise anymore?! aaaggghhh!

Rick Brown
Thanks Chap. I'll check them out later. GH Wood has stalled at the moment due to the lining issue. I'm trying to make my own decals, but with limited success so far. I may have to resort to 0.75mm LNER lining from Fox Transfers. Rick.
Rick Brown
After fumbling around the internet for ages I'm struggling to find any lining decals. Anybody have any suggestions? Home made decals are too difficult in this scale too. Rick. Head scratching.
Black Knight
Is that 0.5mm for all three stripes or 1.5mm? Xtradecal do sheets of pre-cut coloured stripes. You could put a white one on then a centre black one? Would be ok for straightish lines, corners would take a bit of work tho.
Rick Brown
It's .5mm overall. Pretty fine stuff. I've tried pens etc, but failed. Maybe a 0.5mm white line would help. I can get 0.75, but it's quite a difference in size at this scale. Rick.
Black Knight
That is fine indeed. I just tried to measure the lines on my sheet of black - Xtradecal don't give the sizes The third smallest is about 1mm [smaller, not larger] the next down might be about 0.5mm and the smallest ~ I can't measure but they are just the width of the engraved measure mark on my steel ruler https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/XPS1
Rick Brown
Hmmm, looks a possible.. Thanks chap. I'd really like to get on with this build, it's just the ling that's stalled things. Once of a day I'd have mastered bow pen, but can't be bothered now! I would have thought with the amount of N gauge stuff about I'd have found something decal wise by now. Rick.
