Fairey Swordfish I, 830. NAS, Malta

I enter this new airfix kit of the Swordfish a very nice kit, have already build one,

 

I have just read the exelent book by Tony Otoole, No place for beginners, very recomedable, and been inspired to do som Malta a/c.

I have wanted to build this AC for ages, however the swordfish kit I had for it got used as a build for my nephew. Looking forward to this!

Some futher progress on the kit.

 

The fuselage comes in 3 peices so care has to be taken when it is assebled, I started with the sides and let them dry before attaching the underside. taped it good to keep things in place.

Here after removal of tape, and attached upper wing struts let to dry

I think that airfix has done a good job figuring out how to make the wing assemly easy and solid

So started on the paint job, first coat on upper surface, i am mostly at brush painter using good old Humbrol paint. always applying 2 coats.

 

think that is the 4 tone scheme and black ?? Tony ??

Looking good Jes,......yes the 4 colour shadow shaded scheme with black sides and undersides,...the serial appears to have been over painted too.... keep up the good work mate,
