pheonix
That will be an interesting addition to the build. I have been thinking of scratch building one of those recently - not the floatplane though. P
jrlx
Hi Ray, You certainly can prepare the parts in advance. That falls well within the "25% built" admission rule. Cheers Jaime

PhantomBigStu
i might be joining this, one of my relatives in a the past flew on Catalinas for Coastal command, if I can find a serial number I would love to model one he flew in. And even if not, a generic one would be an idea.
jrlx
Hi Stu, Please join the GB! And a Catalina is always an excellent choice Looking forward to seeing your build! Cheers Jaime
jrlx
Hi all, Just to stir interest in the GB and as promised a few posts ago, here's my list of options for the GB, all in 1/72, except the Ekranoplan: 1. Floatplanes Airfix Fairey Swordfish Mk I (floats) Hasegawa SOC-3 Seagull 2.Flying Boats Roden Felixstowe F.2A Valom Supermarine Seagull V Eduard "The Boat" Italeri Sunderland Mk III 3. Ekranoplanes Zvezda Ekranoplan 4. Amphibious Helicopters Airfix Seaking That's it. Enough choices, I guess, but I'll choose the simpler option (still thinking about it). BlackAck
Tasty options there. I'm leaning toward something by Curtis, maybe a seamew or a seahwak.

Hardtarget
mmm, Sunderland, catalina or something japanese or French aerovonale or a russian Tu-TB-1P. Edited July 4, 2017 by Hardtarget
jrlx
Good choices. I'm still "sleeping over" what to build. It will probably be something small and simple as I'd like to finish my build within the GB time frame for once...
jrlx
Just to give some more inspiration for this GB, I received this today through the post: It's a relatively big model (at least 30 cm long) and looks good in the box. Cheers Jaime
stevehnz
I've just done looking at the list of folks for this GB & find myself AWOL. Please could you rectify that, I'm thinking to do a Ar 196 as flown off the Graf Spee before the Royal Navy happened by & munted it. Steve. I thought I should've been on there but was looking further down I think, I'm normally a later starter than that. Steve.

And if my comparatively small contribution is finished in plenty of time (ha ha ha), I have another kit I could add (1/72 Kawanishi N1K1 Kyofu Aki resin kit done as a Rex prototype). Looking at the amount of interest and the proposed subjects, I think this is shaping up to be a fantastic GB. Thanks, David

I dont know yet but will be looking at the back pages of the Luftwaffe im Focus magazines as theyalways end with a good float plane story . An aircraft used in cladstine night operations with its black undersurface would be cool and iv yet to see a sea surface done at night with the moon light reflecting from it (in my dreams ) Rgds Alistair
