Thanks Jaime

She is in bed so I will let her reply to you tomorrow in her build thread. She will be chuffed to bits with her new Portuguese pen pal !

Although as you are the "Guvna" of this GB, you can't go soft on her :nono:

cheers Pat

Do you think I should have got her to do a Vacform instead ?

I have a nice Airmodel He60, paints would have been the same......:wicked:

well, we needn't be sadistic... after all, we'd like younger people to join the hobby. We should hide the uglier aspects of it ;)

(mind you, I'd never touch a vacform kit with a yard-long pole...)

Hi everyone

My daughter Rose has joined the GB as she said we were under-respresented in both Girls and Heller kits !

So she is building the Heller Arado Ar-196A, her first time on BM and obviously her first GB.

Please wish her luck as I'm trying to encourage her to join our great hobby

Cheers Pat

Hello Rose (and Pat),

Welcome! :welcome:

I hope you have a fantastic time with the GB – good luck!

Regards,

David

Next up...now that I have finished the Boeing for the Matchbox GB, I will jump into another floatplane.  The Morane 'WR', 1913...I think I'll make the Swedish version.

The kit looks straightforward enough with some lovely little resin floats supplied.  I anticipate scratch building some struts but I will see what I can do wit what the kit has to offer first.  I'll prime it tonight.

The variety of different aircraft types in this GB is amazing. There are so many I have never seen before which is brilliant, what's really surprising is that others that I would have thought we would have seen, are yet to appear ie

Kingfisher

Swordfish

Osprey

Albatros W4

Duck

Blackburn Shark

Mavis

Stranraer

Felixstowe

Heinkel 115

Cant 501 or 506

So if you are reading this with one of these in the stash let's be having you :poke:

Or course if you have something more exotic instead, so much the better

Lets reward all Jaimes hard work by having 100 builds in this GB !

cheers Pat

Thanks all for the interest and participation!

Am I one of those 10 unstarted? If so, it will most likely stay that way as work is still stupidly busy. I may actually get the thread moved to 'another place' (possibly to another plaice, as it's a bit fishy. Ok, ok, I'll get me coat..)

For thems as is moving ahead, it's great to see your work progressing, you're all doing magnificently. I envy you your free time! Keep the pace up and hopefully we'll see you all at the finish line!

Thanks Jaime

Rose is also very relieved that it's not just her dad that's makes models, so thanks very much to everyone who has sent her messages of encouragement.

We have all been summoned to Glasgow by the outlaws to help with their house extension, this weekend. So it will be no modelling for young Rose this weekend I'm afraid.

The other distraction this week is that she has been offered a football trial with Celtic FC in Glasgow on Tuesday, so I think it's going to be a bit frantic over the next few days !

cheers Pat

Don't punish yourself, Rob. I've also been unable to touch my Dornier for the last four weeks and it will probably remain as is for one or two weeks more. To much work at office and now a German test next Wednesday.

Cheers

We should also be relieved that a young girl chooses to join the ranks of this hobby, otherwise we run the risk of this hobby being the domain of grumpy old guys, passionately discussing shades of WWII aircraft camouflage colours... not to mention discussions of the proper lengths of inter-wing struts of WWI aircraft... ;)

Hi Jaime,

It's not a race, please tell me it's not a race!  :frantic:

It's not a race but there's an end date for the GB, as John said above. It's 7 January 2018, just eight weeks in the future.

But don't worry too much. The idea is to have fun building models together. In fact, I've joined many GBs but only managed to finish one in time.

Cheers

Let's all congratulate @Beard for finishing a good looking Spitfire on floats! :clap2:

As they say, we can't have too many Spitfires, even on floats :D

Cheers

Am I OK to join in at this late stage? I'm thinking of doing the Sword 1/72 Curtis Seamew. Not the prettiest plane in the world, but seaplanes are either very ugly or very beautiful! With it being a small plane, I think I can do it justice in the time remaining.

Regards

Andy

As Rob said, you're very welcome in the GB! The Curtis Seamew may not be pretty but it certainly is an original and interesting aircraft.I'm looking forward to seeing yours taking shape!

Cheers
