(ex)Sgtrafman
Hi everyone Last weekend I had some time off from work so I decided to clean out and remodel my workshop.... ....and in doing so I found a plane I started 3 years ago the Hasegawa 1/48 Hawker Typhoon 1b which as the title says will be built as MP197 using the rather lovely decals from Aviaeology AOD48003 Typhoon Special. At the time I had the Barracuda cast cockpit upgrade..... ...which in my opinion looks lovely, its just a shame most of it will never be seen again! Oh and for those observant amongst you you would have noticed the head armour is missing, I broke it off many moons ago but I still have it and I'll reattached it nearer the end of the build. General model pictures..... ....my 1/24 version is still on going but it is my long build so I need smaller stuff to keep me sane!

Yeah the Hasagawa Tiffie is a nice bit of moulding and it really does look the part. I don't know why I put it to one side all those years ago? Still I'll get her finished now! Biggles87
I have one at about the same stage as yours ( plus several other types ), I really ought to get them finished so I'll watch yours and hope for inspiration. Cheers John
Grey Beema
Where there slightly different boxings of the Has 1/48 Typhoon? I have one working its way to the top of the stash (after the Sea Gladiator and the Sandringham conversion) but I think it has the early tailplane and three bladed prop.. Do you need to fill the landing light for this airframe?

(ex)Sgtrafman
Hi everyone Well it seems like I've been away from modelling since, well forever. I've recently changed jobs so I no longer work nights and weekends so its time to get back to the bench and finish a few models that I've started, the first being my Typhoon something I started in 2014. I've spent today painting the basic camouflage and it hasn't gone too badly, I still have the tail to finish tomorrow and then I can start on the roundels, fin flashes and Sqn codes... After the Typhoon is finished I'm going to complete my Revel 1/72 Halifax followed by my Fly 1/48 Jet Provost. Cheers all and a Happy New year to you! (ex)Sgtrafman
Morning all I've finished the basic paint job and TBH I think it looks ok... ...later on today I'll start spraying on the roundels etc then hopefully she will start to look the part. Umm looking at the photo I think I need to check the seam lines on the cannons! And I thought I had them covered! Cheers Iain
(ex)Sgtrafman
Hi everyone Since 14:00 this afternoon I've been applying the roundels to my Typhoon (its now 17:15 and the main ones are finished). I've used the Montex mask set K48273 for the task. Firstly I drew guide lines on all the masks I was going to use, in this case the upper wing and fuselage. I then applied the outer mask to the wings and fuselage... Followed by all the inner masks except the very centre ones, Red was going to be my first colour... I reattached the inner (red) masks and removed the next masks (blue)... I reattached the (blue) masks.. Removed the outer (yellow) masks... Sprayed the yellow... Removed all the masks... Now the results isn't perfect by any means, your seeing them as I removed them, so some touch ups will be required, but they do look so much better than decals. Tomorrow I'll do the under wing roundels and and fin flashes. As an aside for Christmas my wife bought me a dremel drill press (which I've yet to use).... And a Badger paint stirrer... Which is a pretty nifty piece of kit. Cheers Iain

As far as I know there have been four Typhoon boxings from Hasegawa:- Car door canopy; Bubble canopy, four blade prop, early tailplanes; Bubble canopy, three blade prop, early tailplanes; Bubble canopy, four blade prop, Tempest tailplanes (sharkmouth boxing). I await correction on the last one.

The "normal" Mk1 RP rails are in there though The Tamiya Mossie has Mk 3 rails. Jonners
(ex)Sgtrafman
Hi everyone Tonight I've concentrated on finishing painting the roundels and codes. TBH I'm not totally happy with the results, but they are fixable it will just take more time. Again you're seeing the model with in minutes of the masks being removed.. I'm gonna let everything dry for a full 24 hours before I start the tidy up. Cheers Iain
