and drop it into a predrilled hole in the Formica worktop

My wife's generally quite tolerant of my modelling activities.  But I'm pretty sure I'd be in trouble if I started defacing the kitchen.....

Crikey Bill, just when I thought this was finished you go to add even more tiny detail.

Great job mate, marvellous stuff.

I wouldn't worry about the 'circumferential lines' on the torp - if anyone notices they're not there when there's all the other detail to pore over they deserve a slap :)

😀

Steve I thought you horrendously wealthy legal beagles would have sparkling crystalline granite work tops like us old AA men

The worktop in question graced (did I really say that?) our house when we moved in

As we were three and there were four bedrooms I claimed one for 'hobbies' and used the old worktop up in there with a set of plain kitchen cupboards to hide/lose things in

I'm a sad old twit, me

And now SWMBO gives me gip about the holes anyway, while she uses the 'pooter to play games on

"Why are there all theses black holes?...."

Martian that may well be the answer, do we think he'll admit it?

I spent a little time this morning (which idiot says there's nowt to do when retired huh?) sorting the weapons rack/dispenser/thingy and tidying up the type 44

No reason not to hang it underneath now is there?

So I did and then I decided to pin the rotor blades to the MRG, after all I'd be a proper pilchard if it didn't work out huh.

One thing led to another so I stuck the Wasp to her deck and had a faff about with the blades

P1120734.jpg

Uppers in place, Wopsie sitting inside her prescribed circle/square

P1120735.jpg

Some reason for concern, but not a lot over the upper frame

P1120737.jpg

Looks to me as if the upper rest pads are too close together

P1120743.jpg

but I'm pleased with her so far

YES I KNOW!!!

The rear UHF aerial is shown here on the wrong side

I've moved it over to t'right side since then  :)

P1120747.jpg

I think that when the upper arm has been lengthened to allow the blades to sit either side of the beacon as they should the lower pads will allow a better sit too

The pins need tidying up but they seem to be reasonable, they do work after all

And coming soon, very soon

Decisions decisions...

P1120748.jpg

The S1, Bucc's fizzzzz

P1120749.jpg

After Bill's S12 epic in anti-flash white I've a mind to go for DSG and White

One of each choice on the dec sheet....

A start on the revised framework

Blimey, that Torpedo is nearly as big as Wospie, how did the poor little helibijopter ever get off the ground, er, deck?!

Outstanding work Bill, & I'm already looking forward to the Brick!

One thing I'm going to be cheeky & mention - you said you'll be entering Wospie in the Telford comp? Well, we changed the theme of our club's memorial trophy for one of our sadly departed members last year, to "anything Royal Navy" (but clothhead here forgot to tell the comp sec & we mainly got more German submarines entered in the previous 'Battle of the Atlantic' theme!) & the RN theme continues this year. It's the IPMS West Glamorgan Keith Jones memorial trophy. Entry is free, the ex-owner of L'Arsenal provides a very nice trophy & the current owner might be providing a voucher for goodies from them. Be very pleased if you'd consider entering...

Thanks Keith, useful to know there are eligible classes this year

Miscellaneous wasn't much fun last year for the old Hansom cab  ;)

Still we did get a nice certificate

OK I did manage a few things today

Finally got the stupid thick foam roof seal on the Midget's new roof

Took lots of junk and the Midge's old roof to the council tip

Tested the zip out rear window, awesome!

And got a bit more of the new frame done

P1120752.jpg

Deliberately flooded flash to show the repositioned upper frame on the tail for test

not in the mounting holes here, just posed in place-ish

A few finishing  touches and we'll pop some red on that tomorrow

As you can see I have demounted her from the square panel for now which lets me do little manoueverings such as test fit the front windows after I moulded them quickly last night

Not awfully pleased yet but not a lot of adjusting needed either

P1120753.jpg

Quite pleased with the port window but the starboard one needs some lovin'

Anyway that was earlier

This is now the main frame components in place now, ready to  be redded tomorrow

P1120754.jpg

Test run 1

P1120755.jpg

T'other side

Looks far better now it is clear of the red beacon dome

P1120757.jpg

OK now I can go and interfere with other people's builds

phew

;)

I take by this you mean holding it aloft and running (or walking quickly) around the room making helicopter noises?

Exceptional work Bill. Hope you can bring it along to the club meet on Sunday.

Tom how could you

A chap wouldn't run round the room making such evocative noises with Waspie

Her rotor brake is on and each blade is only held on by a single rotor pin

tskk tskk

Sunday is a definite definite definite probable

Flooded flash or not, that is a thing of considerable beauty.

You are tempting me greatly to acquire one in my preferred scale (which means ancient Fujimi... probably needs about as much work as you have done).

Stunning, and a joy to follow.

Guys I don't know how to respond to this fulsome praise

This is just me being really far too pernickety, when I get started I simply have to give it everything

Praise from you two and the other awesome model makers on BM is amazing

Cheers

I whipped the new frame and several lengths of plastic strip and rod down to the gara... spray booth and gave them all a couple of coats of Humbrol's Arrow Red acrylic aerosol

Let the stink gas off  ("What are you doing just sitting there doing nothing..........!")

and brought the rig indoors and began having a stress free hour or two

Modelling, almost forgot how nice it is/can be

Began by sticking the vee frame in situ (Formula 560 Cockpit Glue), then after the tail upright pylon fell off ( :( ) I used the opportunity to get the blades and frames singing from the same song sheet

(looks like Wednesday Morning 3am to me, one of the Talented Mr Simon's early works)

As I built it all up and boxed in the blades it became a thing of, yes, beauty

Look at that

P1120758.jpg

Yes on this shot you can see some of the warts, the tail hinge ratchet has dislodged (now fixed) and one of the assembly spring lock rings awaits its coat of red

But the tail pylon beacon is at the right position now with rotor blades easily located either side

P1120760.jpg

from ahead she looks a lot better now too

P1120761.jpg

And from the port side

Things to do before RFI

Wipers (Airwaves set might do this for me)

OAT

Tie down rings on upper legs

tie down to the deck

Wish I had left the rotor gear alone, folded you cannot even see the blooming little donk

:(
