1/48th Revell Tornado nose weight

Building this and have got to the point where I need to put the nose on, and have seen that it recommends no less that 40g of weight in the nosecone. Yikes! That sounds an awful lot, I'm not convinced I have that much lead, let alone know where I'm going to put it all. Is this really needed, because if so I am going to need to visit a gun shop to buy some lead shot, and that won't be a five minute trip

On both my builds I've filled the radome with lead shot held in place with PVA glue, as long as you fill the radome with some sort of weight you'll be ok.

Found a shop selling fishing weights of different sizes, so used those and the white glue trick, with a polystyrene disc with holes n it glued over the top to make sure it stays there.

 

Here's hoping it's enough

I go to the local tyre fitting shop ( I work next door ) and the lovely Kylie gives me the old tyre balancing weights the fitters have removed. These are conveniently marked with the weight on them and are free .
