Good afternoon Patrice,

No problem at all, and I would like to see your completed kit in French colors on here as I would be interested to see how the camouflage turns out for you - The part that scares me as I am no good at producing camouflage with a brush.

Is the old Heller kit of the Curtiss Hawk 75 a good kit to have in the stash as well ?

Best regards Colin.

Good evening Colin

Of courseI will post my build here  I plan to build a french Hawk 75 as soon as I receive one and will check my books as I am a little bit surprised by the color indications of the french boxing that says to use  Hu 29  Dark Earth when it should be Chocolate  https://recherche.aol.fr/aol/image?q=Curtiss+H+75+&s_it=img-ans&imgId=8C7D0388C4D97E8A85965B301123F46371FD737D&v_t=aolfr-webmail2..

Agreed. And me too. Humbrol 98 is a 'chocolate' brown that would appear to be closer. There are some decent period colour images in Lionel Persyn's book(s), the original huge LeLa Presse volume and the Mushroom title. I don't know if this has come up before but the 'C1' is not a variant, it indicates 'C' for 'chasseur' or fighter

I have no connection with them, but I could recommend the LifeColor French colours for the French Hawks.

AFAIK they haven't released them as a boxed set yet, but it's a great set, I have all of them. Good for brush painting and that can be useful with these camouflage schemes.

Theres a very quick look at them with their names here:

http://sixtwentyeight.blogspot.com.au/2016/05/french-armee-de-lair-colors-lifecolor.html?m=1

I hope that AZ release the set with the Norwegian aircraft in soon. These kits look very good.

I started a kitbash of Heller/Smer with some Airfix Tomahawk bits etc last year (not from the cockpit forwards of course ;)).

That one may go somewhere very dark and quiet now.

Best regards

Hi Tony

Thank you for the info but I prefer to continue working with Humbrol ..

Now the questiion is when will these kits be released because I canno't wait any longer .. and where can I buy a few boxes ?

Brave man trying to kit bash Heller/Smer with some Airfix Tomahawk bits I hope the new H 75 kit will be easier to build ..

Best regards

Good evening Patrice,

I will look out for that post.

I too agree that the dark earth colour should be chocolate.  - But. it's always dangerous to quote colours and we should perhaps be checking our references just in case.

Lifecolor paints I have tried their Finish colours set and have the French ones to use, but, I missed buying the chocolate one, d'oh !!

Best regards

Colin.

Concerning the AZ7572 kit scheme #3 :

This particular a/c H75C-1 no.183 (U083) belonged to the Polish "Kos" flight defending SNCAC (ex-Hanriot) factory at Bourges (hence the Polish insignia on fin).

The pilots were: Flt Lt Bronislaw Kosinski, Fg Off Marian Wesolowski, Sgt Wilhelm Kosar, Corp Waclaw Germer, Corp Bernard Kremski and Corp Adolf Pietraszak.

Lt Col Marcel Haegelen (a 1896-born WWI ace with 23 German a/c credited) has flown it very rarely (if ever).

In 1940 he was the Hanriot chief test pilot, credited with 1 WW2 victory - a He111 on 5th June 1940.

BTW I really doubt if Bourges (47 parallel, just 200 km south of Paris) really does belong to AFRICA! Should the Czech textbooks on geography be seriously revised?

Cheers

Michael

😀

Re scheme #1 I think the codes should be red not grey, which is unfortunate as red codes that size are hard to find. Not sure it’s day fighter scheme, might still be in de/dg

Okay, has anyone gotten their hands on one of these kits?  Has anyone here started building one?  What are they like?

Not started building it,  I only checked for accuracy which I consider very good overall.

Panel lines are quite decent but distinct at the same time.

Only the ribbing on ailerons, rudder and elevators are a bit overdone and should be toned down a bit IMO.

The fuselage halves at least align very well, did not check the wings yet but so far I am totally happy to have a modern P-36 / H-75 ...

Occa,

Excellent!  That's about what I was looking for.  I truly love - and have several of the wonderful Monogram P-36 kits but am open to buying a new tool rendering if it was good enough.  I've the Special Hobby and Azur renderings as well so hopefully this is an improvement over those as well.

Thought to avoid disappointments I'd better add that it is short run so expect to take a little more time than with the top mainstream manufacturers to prepare the parts ...

I am still in awe how accurate the shapes and proportions appear compared to photos

"With new fuselage" according to Hannants

The A-4 used a different engine to the earlier versions giving it a different profile so to do it correctly there would have to be a new fuselage.

The fuselage including cowling is all moulded together, to their credit it would thus appear that AZ have done the correct changes and not just whacked A-4 markings onto the earlier kit (as is often done).

Nice, but just a note for that Peruvian H75: control surfaces are not white but yellow zinc cromate, while paint scheme is worn out Dark Green and Dark Earth over Sky Grey.
