757flyer
Does anyone know what small logo is just to the right (aft) of the main entry door on ZZ176? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tvMRiA6iTdM/VcI1U_5zKNI/AAAAAAAAAG0/8g59KJmUj7I/s1600/RMC_3109.JPG Looks like an ornate crest, but I can't find one that resembles it. Great tail art on this one, by the way... http://www.macksaviation.com/2016/BZN_Specials/99_99_07.png Cheers, Mike
niki
I wish I knew! I even played on a few hunches but came up empty handed. Until someone checks in with the correct answer, here are a couple of slightly bigger pictures of that crest (still blurry, though): https://www.flickr.com/photos/142778914@N04/26858332085/sizes/o/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/97303829@N02/10349308274/sizes/o/ Cheers, Niki
757flyer
Niki, Many thanks. It is definitely a coat of arms, I just can't place it... Can't find any associated with 99 Squadron or Brize Norton. Perhaps it goes back to the original formation in 1917? RAF Yatesbury, Royal Flying Corps? Being a Yank, I'm not as well versed in RAF heraldry.... Thanks again!
757flyer
With many thanks to a source outside the forums, I found the answer - The Worshipful Company of Coopers. They are one of the charitable organizations that 99 Squadron has an association with. Mike
Kevin Callahan
Hopefully Xtradecal will have these markings on a set when the 1:72 C-17 is released next year.
757flyer
Not sure about Xtradecal's plans, but these markings are now available from DRAW Decal: http://www.shopdrawdecal.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=44-C17-17 Available in both 1/144 and 1/72.

xvtonker
It looks like a county crest to me. I've tried to find the county, but to no avail. XVTonker.

Whitewolf
I had no idea there were so many C17 Decal sheets available. Ordering the 99 sqdn sheet now and wait for kinetic kit.
Kevin Callahan
Greg Drawbaugh did a number of C-17 schemes to go with the Anigrand 1:72 kit. Other decal makers (Xtradecal and Caracal are likely) will no doubt being doing sheets when the Kinetic kit makes its appearance next year.
