Are they going to release this kit as a standalone or is it only available as part of the 2x Mi-24 box ?

Are those clear plastic wheels.....Etch would be a lot better (& more Eduard), surely?

As long as the spoke detail is well done enough on the clear plastic to be picked out with dry brushing, I don't see how PE wheels could be any more convincing given the scale. A 1/72 Velorex will be a small thing indeed.

In 1/72, a Velorex will be around  42 mm long x 20 mm wide x 16 mm tall

Which is actually fairly big IMHO.....I've got subjects that size with L&L tracks!  ;)

Fact is the clear plastic wheels look  :shit:

This is how such things should be done:  http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235002624-172-wwi-clyno-motor-cycle-wd-models/#comment-2360854

This kit is intended as an E Day entry gift and as part of the Mi-24 set. It is also a kind of joke from Mr. Sulc and I consider it to be a good one!  Mind you we had these strange cycles (it is a motorcycle with a canvas cover over it) around our streets not so long ago. Back in socialist times when a “full metal” car was a dream for most and even then they had to save for decades to get a Skoda, a Lada, a Wartburg or a Trabi and even if you had the money you had to be on a long waiting list (years or even a decade) to be allocated one and it was not the buyer who chose what colour his car will be. Back in those times the Velorex was something of a transition from a standard motorcycle to a metal car. So you almost had a car . . .

Looking from the Eastern part of Europe and as someone who has lived through those time, yes it is a good joke looking back at it all!

As to the wheels. They are perfectly OK as they are, I don’t think there will be too many people going out and rivet counting on this one!

Nice one Mr. Sulc! :D

Best regards

Gabor

Wait a minute!  You're saying there are rivets on that thing?  Well, they'll definitely have to be counted then!

Well those wheels are doubly awful aren't they.....Eduard managed to get the worst out of both wolds, etch that doesn't fit and a ghastly clear plastic disk!

Lose the plastic hub, stick a rim on the etch and you have a decent part.....How hard can it be for crying out loud, they've been making similar parts for biplane kits since the dawn of time!  :mental:

I'm with you on this Sarge. It's otherwise a lovely little kit of a cult vehicle, yet those wheels let it down.

In real life, any car, bike or trike, is let down if the wheels look dodgy. The same with any model representation.

I've used PART (Polish manufacturer) photo etched spoke wheels in the past, for 1/72 aircraft.

They come in many sizes. It seems wierd to suggest it, but here we have an Eduard product, that could possibly be improved by another manufacturers photo-etch. :D

All the best

Cheers for the support Tony.  :coolio:

This is a really charming little kit and Eduard could easily use it to their advantage.....They don't have much of a footprint in the Braille AFV/Vehicle world, especially after the overpriced fail that was their M4A3 Shermans.  There are still an awful lot of softskins out there that are not covered by any manufacturer and Eduard could very easily carve a niche for themselves with small highly detailed models of these subjects.  :nerd:
