bull-nut
HQ vehicle, 1st (polish) Armoured Division (Brigade?) Painted with SCC2 Service Brown mixed from Tamiya acrylics (thanks to Mike Starmer for putting in the effort to find the mix), showing the vehicle participating in training ops prior to the Normandy landings. Minimal weathering, just a coating of dust over the lower sides and wheels. A nice easy build, with no fit issues, typical Tamiya really. Anyway, here are the pics.
celt
Like it, Tamiya do good stuff. After years doing 1/72[ my eyesight and chubby fingers ] I am going to do 1/48 from now on.
bull-nut
Thanks Celt. I look on 1/48 as a perfect compromise for armour models. Its big enough that you can get some nice detail in, but compact enough that it builds up quickly, and doesn't take up too much shelf space, even with a vignette base. You could never get a 1/35 T34 onto a 7x5" base, and still leave room for figures or scenic elements, for example. This was my 7th 1/48 armour kit, and I have plans for at least another 7. celt
I have only done one so far [Daimler mk11] and I am hooked. Like you say its got enough detail and easier to display. My wife says the 1/48 are cuter.
