Jusjay
I'm thinking of doing a grey sludge wash over my FAA Hellcat soon but I'm wondering if it is best to do this after I've done the decalling? I'm using microsol/set to get the decals bedded down nicely.
Bordfunker
I always do mine after decalling, otherwise you end up with panel lines which stop at the decals, rather than running through them as they would on the real thing. Just apply a clear gloss coat over the decals before you apply a wash, if you weren't already going to. Karl
Jusjay
Thanks Karl that's helped a lot. I will do the gloss coat too although I wasn't sure if it would fill the panel lines too much.
Bordfunker
I usually apply gloss coats highly thinned and at relatively high pressure as this gives a good glossy finish. It also stops filling in the panel lines. Karl
Jusjay
Brilliant thanks Karl. I've been doing a few coats of gloss today and yesterday so should be ready for the decalling to begin tomoro as I'm off! Although the wife has other plans which involves paint just not Tamiya....
