Flipper
Hi there folks now that I've finished the Ferrari, and I'm waiting on various parts drying on the Repsol Honda, I thought I would start my 2nd 1/24 car build. This time at the request of my son, it's Aoshima's 1/24 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster LP700-4 kit. I'm going to add a few extras to this build first up is the DMC Transkit from C1 Models which consists of front and rear spoilers and side skirts. Then I'll be adding aftermarket wheels from Hobby Design and their Khan Santagata design. Also I'll be using Hobby Designs PE kit, which is quite comprehensive. I've also got the upgraded rear suspension kit from Hobby Design The last item raided from the Hobby Design catalogue is the metal decal kit, I used the same type of kit on the Ferrari, where I was pleased with the results. The paint will be from Zero-Paints, these paints are excellent. First off I'll use their recently released light grey primer Now for the main paint I would like to paint it a Lamborghini grey colour which is Grigio Telesto However my son and wife both like the Aventador White colour Bianco Canopus so they might win but we will see. Anyway I hope you are going to like the forthcoming build.
MikeGTC
Another great project man! And another kit i also have in my stach I would go for the first colour. These 2 step paints need alot of work. 3 coats each and you better wait 20-30 minutes in between coats. Mike

Mike Yeh I know it's gonna be a lot of work, I'm still working at persuading them down the grey route, but he had a sit in the white one a couple of years ago, they think it's no bother to paint that colour and have no idea the work involved. The joys. You and I seem to have the same tastes in cars, we need to do a build together at some point in the future. Oooh nice, will you be lighting this one? Cheers, Andy. I honestly don't know, I'm gonna build up the chassis and basic she'll to see how much room I will have. If I do it, it will only be a front and rear light kit, as honestly the hassle involved in the lights on the chassis was almost the end for me. I had to wire the shell and chassis in different looms then connect both. I don't think I'll have the room to do that in this car. But never say never. Flipper
First off the unboxing of it, compared to the Revell Ferrari the amount of parts and level of detail is on a different planet. Revell needs to take a look at these kits and see what the market place requires and needs. Anyway here's the sprues which they are many for a 1/24 scale car. The clear parts I take these are rear light parts which are again amazingly detailed The small parts that allow the doors to open And the instructions which are tremendously detailed, again Revell take note
Flipper
First up and before I even bought the kit, I bought the PE kit, I've heard stories about building up these disks, and yes they did take several hours to build, but they are well worth it. All the parts yes there are many After several hours the result, to think how small these parts are the detail is amazing Thanks for looking, and I hope I can do this kit justice.
MetroRacing
Wow I've always be dubious about Aoshima's lambo kits, as some of their models are very basic and some are just wrong lol. But this looks gorgeous and opening doors to boot. I think I'll be getting one soon if only to use those wheels on it. Will be watching your build like a hawk lol. Ashley Ashley this is my first experience of Aoshima kits, just going by the level of detail and the amount of parts (for a car) I pleased with it. I'm only hoping that it goes together well, it can't be any worse than the Ferrari I've just finished.
shood23
I've made this kit earlier this year and it does go together incredibly, I seem to vaguely remember the doors being a pain to get into place properly at the end though. Shaun
Madhatter
Nice choice of subject. I love the Lambo Aventador Roadster - it's one of my favorite super cars I have build this kit as well and as Shood mentioned - it does go together nicely. My only advice is do not remove those supporting sprues between the rear pillars and the wind sreen and doors until your ready to assemble otherwise it'll break really easily if you do. I have been thinking of buying another one of these and I have the same sets of PE as you. I never used mine. Looking forward to seeing more MH

Ashley Ashley - the recent Aoshima kits are no comparison to what went before. They ARE accurate as they have been working directly with the originators - McLaren, Lamborghini and check the future releases to see the latest collaboration . MetroRacing
Yes I saw that but it might be just me, but I got more excited that they are re releasing the Silvia and Bluebird silhouette racers lol. Glad that someone is actually bringing out kits of the latest stuff though. Ashley
Rumblestripe
Interesting build. I've never come across "Zero Paints" before and the custom mixing service sounds like it might be useful in a Railway Modelling context as some automotive colours are excellent matched for locomotive liveries like LNER Apple Green and LMS Maroon. A couple of quick questions What is the best clean up fluid? How hard wearing are the finishes?
Flipper
Cheers for the comments guys, I've never experienced any of the older Aoshima kits, so thankfully this looks like a great kit. Madhatter & Shaun, I'll bear that in mind regarding the doors and parts to leave on, although I think I've removed one of the door sprues already.....oops. I'll be careful. I'm also looking forward to some of their upcoming kits including the Pagani and the new Huracan, both should be lovely kits. I think they are bringing out a car trailer as well. I've also just placed a pre order for the new Tamiya NSX 2016 kit, which come out in October. Rumblestripe, I've used Zero Paints own airbrush cleaner to good effect, but I've also used Rustins Cellulose airbrush cleaner which has been ok. They appear hard wearing but they are shelf models and are suspect are not subject to the same day to day bumps that you could have on a railway model. I've now used them on a few models, have a look at my Ducati Senna 1199, that's Zero Paints on that as well. Flipper
That's the main chassis built up, went together easily enough other than me dropping the damn thing arghhhhh. The result was much swearing and re-glueing of several parts. The PE kit came with resin callipers which have amazing detail. Anyway here's the front discs and callipers. The rears And the chassis Compared to the Revell Ferrari, this has been a breeze so far, hopefully I've not spoken too soon.
Flipper
That's the wheels build up and attached to the rolling chassis. I really do like these aftermarket wheels as I think they compliment the angular shape of the Lambo. They were painted in Vallejo Metal Color Magnesium and glossed over with Alclad2 Aqua Gloss. The badges in the centres are the Hobby Design Real Metal Logo decals. Next up the engine
Flipper
Now on with the engine in its basic form. Compared to the Revell Ferrari engine well there is no comparison. As I've said before if one company can make an engine like this why can't others. Rant over lol. Once all the parts were painted up using both Tamiya and Vallejo Metal Colors, the engine was built up to this. I haven't applied any washes to this one as I didn't think it needed it. I then painted up the engine carrier/bay using good ole Tamiya Semi Gloss Black. This looks just like a cart don't you think. I then fitted the engine it took me ages to realise that the engine is fitted off centre and to one side. Don't know why it does this but there must be a reason. The piping/hoses then went in Next up the rear suspension, now I bought the upgrade kit for this, but me being me didn't like how the PE on the centre section bent to shape. So I cannibalised both parts to make one good/reasonable part Then all painted up, which I think looks better And fitted to the engine bay Next up was the cover. Again I didn't like the way the kit decal sat on the centre of the cover, it was far too thick and shiney. So I took a tracing of it and using the Scale Motorsport Carbon Decal sheet I made my own centre section decal. The one part I did use of the original decal was the V12 badge. I also used the Hobby Design metal Lambo badges. I then picked out the smallest bolt heads (about 0.4mm) from my 1/12 MotoGP assorted item kit and attached 4 of these to the carbon. And fitted to the bay, this showed that the engine is sitting the correct way in the bay. And fitted to the car chassis Anyway that's it for the moment, thanks for looking and I hope you like it so far.
Flipper
And then when the primer was out for the Honda I gave the Lambo a coat of Tamiya White Primer I knew things were going too good, now I don't think you can see them because of the light but above the rear lights on the flat panel and side panels there are bloody nasty sink marks, weird as there isn't even a trace of any other imperfections. Arghhhh. Anyway no great hassle I filled this in and waiting for the filler to dry. Edited September 13, 2016 by Flipper
MetroRacing
Looks excellent. Great progress. The reason the engine is fitted to one side is that the real car has the rear diff just in front of the engine and the prop shaft or torque tube runs alongside the bottom of the engine. Remember modern lambo's are 4WD lol. Ashley Edited September 13, 2016 by MetroRacing

Alan R
I recently took delivery of the Aoshima Sesto Elemento. Huge box for a 1/24 scale car. Absolutely crammed with sprues. Two body shells, one clear, one 'normal' if you can call a Lambo 'normal'... I'm lusting after the Tamiya NSX as well. When I get that, I'm going to build it alongside the older Tamiya NSX. I really, really want the Aventador now as well.... All the best, and keep up the amazing work. Alan. Flipper
Alan I've looked at the Elemento for the future but I've too many on the to do list before that. Aoshima is bringing out a new Aventador model later this year. That's on the to buy list plus their Huracan and new Pagani models. Arghhhhh too many at one time.
