F-15E nearly killed my children!

I just thought I would share something from my local news paper. The Cornishman.

Every summer we get some low fly overs by USAF F-15E Strike Eagles, and such an amazing sight they are flying over the mounts bay in the blue sunny sky.

But then I saw this, and I just had to share this here, it really is that bad.

Pfft. Pushy overprotective well-off self-righteous entitled mother. Kids, even adults, fall off bikes all the time, they could just as easily have the same or similar accident without jets having done some grass cutting!!

Get fed up with these types complaining. They're the sort that move next door to a motor racing circuit that's been there for half a century and then complain it's noisy!! Pilots need to practice low level flying somewhere, especially considering they likely have to fly over residential areas in foreign countries! Flying over the deserted areas of the highlands isn't the same as flying over downtown Baghdad!

If I were the RAF complaints dept. I'd ignore it as they only have her account to go by, especially as the woman has no clue what it was she was buzzed by.

Internet is wonderful

Google her name and town and you quickly find that she is a serial complainer and letter writer to the local rag

Probably got something to say about everything

Co-Op get a bashing for sweets at tills too

Hmmmm pass the salt. I need a very large pinch of it.

This woman needs to spend more time eduacating her kids and less time moaning.

If your kids haven't got the common sense to realise that letting go of your handlebars to cup your ears without coming to a controlled stop first will have you off, then they shouldn't be anywhere near a road and or traffic which could have potentially led to an accident in the first place...

The problem is all the attention these people are getting nowadays. The press (if you can even call it that) present these total non-items as ground breaking news that everyone should see and hear! The problem is that everyone has their own soapbox nowadays (in the shape of social media etc.) on which they voice their ridiculous opinions on every subject they know absolutely fudge all about. I think that if you have absolutely nothing useful to say, yoy shouldn't.

Bah! Had a week's holiday with a view over the bay last month, didn't see or hear a thing!

I grew up in Northamptonshire in the 80s and we had low flying RAF and USAF hardware several times a day. Can't remember the last time I saw anything (living in the city now) and miss it!

I bet she was "offended" by all the noise from those nasty "bombers". Tough. Decorum & forum rulez stop me saying what I'd really like to in this instance about whiney types who try & shove their view points & agendas down everyone else's throats.

Steve.

Someone should warn her about that Gull, she might want to complain to the RSPB........

Duck !!!!

I must admit the noise of these smelly dirty jets is rather nasty , much prefer the dulcet tones of a Merlin

You'd probably enjoy my office then, we are treated to regular over flights by one of the Spitfires based at Biggin Hill. Edited by Richard E

I'm sorry but I can't stand people like this.

She'll be the first one to complain if there was no one to protect her "little cherubs" in the event of a terrorist attack.

Just be thankful that the RAF and USAF are there are well trained.

Empty vessels make the loudest noise as they say.

I know that this is slightly off topic, but not far from where I live there is a travellers site which has been in operation for at least 30 years and probably more.

A local builder decided to build a handful of luxury houses about 500 yards from the entrance to the travellers site.

I lady I used to work with decided that she and her husband must have one.

They had only been in about four months when she'd decided to start a petition to have the site closed down saying that it was "a disgrace to have something like this on my doorstep". I did ask her if she and hubby had done any research before buying but didn't get an answer.

Fortunately, the council didn't listen to her.

I don't have any sympathy for these whingers.

Where I live in Adelaide, south Australia I'm not far from a general aviation airport that has been there since 1927, and was the main airport for Adelaide until the current Adelaide airport opened in 1955.

There is a noisy minority who whinge about noise etc, but I think they are being egged on by greedy land developers.

Took a low flying complaint one evening when I was Orderly Sgt from an irate local. I promised her a call from the Orderly Officer when he came in later.

What followed was classic - he strolled in, dressed in flying suit and called her. After introductions he was obviously getting an ear bending, followed by his next line of " yes, it was me"

He then went into a very polite, informed discussion over the necessity to train. Top bloke

Slow news day in Penzance? (Are there other sorts?)

Get used to it as newspapers increasingly rely on social media (aka the twits of the twittersphere) for their news leads.

Time was in that part of the world when you couldn't leave your house without a Chivenor Hawk leaping out of the hedge at you. Not to mention the reassuring drone of a Shackleton going about its lawful occasions in the background. Nowadays the skies are quiet as the grave, which explains why the poor dear loves were so traumatised.

Anyway, you have all quite clearly missed the point of thepureness's post. "It really is that bad" clearly refers to the shocking admission by the RAF spokesman that they couldn't have been RAF bombers as the RAF don't have any. It really is that bad:that sound is Arthur Harris's body spinning in its grave.

This year was our first holiday in Cornwall without a sight of RAF, RN or air ambulance rescue or practice on the beach or cliffs nearby. And no fast jets either. Bit disappointing, perhaps I should complain?

The new coastguard helicopter did go past one day and there were daily aerial banner fly-pasts, one of which was daily hauled by a US serialled Cub!

Maybe the growing warbird scene is actually an aviation version of the purported "Strategic Steam Reserve", ie a collection of obsolete but serviceable machines that could be pressed into service. Now there's a thought.

Homes near busy airports. Rings a lot of bells!

Pfft. Pushy overprotective well-off self-righteous entitled mother.

Judgemental, much?

She's entitled to complain. But if the minimum low-flying regulations were adhered to, she hasn't got a leg to stand on.

Children "distressed and in pain".

Well, there are children whose parents are training and fighting, and could never come back home. About this THESE CHILDREN and their MOTHERS have every right to be distressed and in pain.

My father was a police officer and my mother and I were distressed when he had missions like escorting funds transports. But we understood he chose to serve and protect.

Filing in a claim is her right and I can understand her children could be surprised and annoyed, but you'd better explain to them that life is not made of just what you'd like and that some "inconveniences" are for our own good. But for that, you'd have to be able to grasp the notion yourself. Hope the official answer will make facts (of life) clearer to this...lady.
