Quick building of kits is not usually my approach but this sounds like fun and I think I have a suitable kit:

I think I will have to go for the two 12 hour sessions because I'm not going to be able to stay awake for 24 hours!........I'm waaaayyyy too old!

Kind regards,

Quick building Stix, you'll love it

Well we'll see.............. :frantic:

Ooh - following along with this one as have just bought the same kit!

It does look like it should be a suitable kit and the tracks, with their fittings, look interesting. I just hope I can stop myself trying to do anything more than I need to!

Kind regards,

Stix

Now stop it!

I'm not sure the hatches can be modelled open anyway. I haven't checked it that thoroughly yet as it's still in the bag.

You're in luck - the hatches are moulded shut.

In that case how about a set of tank riders on the back deck? :evil_laugh:

Kind Regards

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I will see how much time I get and I might run to some stowage - but definitely no figures - they take me too long.

Really looking forward to getting started on this tomorrow morning!

Thanks Ben. I've just been checking up on this kit online and someone posted that they had an issue trying to attach the tracks after using glue to attach the wheels to the hull. Just thought it might be useful for when you get around to making yours:

I think the problem was that a solvent type glue was used that hadn't fully set. It's in Day 2, about halfway down. I will try and be careful tomorrow with mine at that stage.

Kind regards,

Stix

To be honest I'd try not gluing it if you're in a rush as it's meant to be snap fit anyway, so will probably be fine without glue.

Thanks chaps!

Well I've not managed to work at this all the time but below are some photos from today's session so far. I've still got under a couple of hours left.

First off I drilled out the gun barrels:

Tracks painted with thinned Revell Anthracite - although you can't tell in the photo!

Tracks dry- brushed with Humbrol's Gunmetal:

Wheels cut out from sprues ready for painting:

The rest of the photos show dry-brushing (with a lightened version of the base coat and a variety of pin washes:

Finally at this stage I started painting the tires - but only 3 done so far:

Still a long way to go. Comments and suggestions welcome.

Nice going Stix.

Thank you Ozzy - it was fun!

That looks smashing!

Cheers Enzo

Looking really good!!

You get a better result brush painting than I do with my airbrush!

Seems a pretty decent kit so far.

Ben

You are way too kind Ben!

It is a good kit but just so you know - I haven't got as far as attaching the wheels yet but another thing mentioned in that article I mentioned before suggested the fit of the turret to the upper hull is tight. It is!! I did a test fit yesterday and it wasn't going to go in without a fight. I trimmed the depth of the retaining blocks on the underside of the turret and filed and sanded the edges of the turret hole in the upper hull. Not a lot but it meant the turret fits well.

I'd say about as ambitious as mine! Cracking start though. Looking very nice so far.

Nowhere near as ambitious - in my opinion....... I think it helps that it's a snap kit (but I am using glue) so the fit is pretty good - apart from the turret to the hull (so far)!

Looks like you had a good day :)

Cliff

I did, thank you Cliff. It was most enjoyable!

I thought I'd get started a little earlier this morning to make sure I'm within the 12 hours gap between the 12 hour build sessions. I think I probably got about 8 hours actual build time yesterday and the three wheels that I painted the tyres of were the last things done.

So this is the state of play this morning:

28659405553_56c1650692_c.jpg

Still a fair bit to do. I'm going to start with painting the rest of the tyres and then get the tools and other bit's and pieces painted.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Kind regards,

Stix
