Ongoing DDoS Attack causing Forum Slowness   26/04/17

In case you have missed the announcement, the reason that the forum has been slow at times since the minor version update the other day is due to a Denial of Service attack, brute force attack on our email, and judging by the lag with our FTP response, that too.  If you're feeling like you're experiencing a glitch in the Matrix, you're not wrong.  This is the same MO as the attack in September 2016 that occurred when we transitioned to the new version 4 of the software.  We're currently working with US and UK cyber-crime departments, who specialise in this sort of thing, and we're hopeful that we'll be able to track them down this time by using the accumulated evidence already held.    We are pretty certain that it's a continuation of the same attack last year, only at a reduced intensity to deter people from using the site "because it's terribly slow", rather than taking it down completely, and we're also sure of the motivations of those responsible.  Spite.   Please bear with us in the interim, and wish us luck in dealing with these.... "people".

In light of all the new additions of this wonderful aircraft coming this year. Are you going to reprint the F14 book again? I bet you could sell quite a few.

Thanks

Good news for you all, I've been preparing a reprint during the last months - not as much new pictures (only the F-14A cockpit section will have 4 extra pages and 90% new pictures) - but all 700+ pictures have gone through the latest versions of Photoshop, so most pictures show more details than before. Also some errors in the captions and scale drawings have been corrected.

It will be available at Telford, still "hot from the press"...

So, I got my sweaty mitts on a copy of the Tomcat book on Saturday morning and I'm absolutely delighted with it (same goes for the F-104 book, too - it's a real corker). Also bought the USS Theodore Roosevelt DVD off Danny, but haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

Seriously, folks, if you're looking for the ultimate F-14 reference book, then I don't think this one will ever be surpassed.... it is quite simply STUNNING in its coverage. Want to know what colour an F-14's barf-bag is...? Then this is the book for you. It's not cheap at around 30 quid, but provides the modeller with more detail than 10 other reference books could ever include.

Very, very highly recommended.

Chris.

PS: Good luck to the individual on Amazon UK who is currently advertising the first edition of the Tomcat book at a very reasonable £999.00! For some reason, it's been on Amazon for a number of months now. I wonder why?

I have to endorse all the positives above -this and the Hornet 'Uncovering...' books are two of the best investments in paper I ever made. Might have to score the new edition, as I'm a bit of a 'cat obsessive...

Posted (edited)

I just bought a copy of "Uncovering the F-16" on E-Bay. Just as good as the F-14 book and a real gem of a reference work.

I really don't think you could produce better modelling "close-up" books..... They are just so comprehensive.

Cheers.
