Is this an Enamel spray or Acrylic?

I have used Humbrol's Acrylic Matt and Satin spray varnishs and have not had any problems so far.

To be honest, I'm quite fond of them as they seem to settle down much better than my Airbrush final finish coats.

Cheers.. Dave

thanks Dave for your reply...I use Enamel of Humbrol and Enamel Matt and Gloss varnishes. Have any idea about yellowish?

Look strange as I told why happen to some models and not to all of them..and Ok in an A-6A with grey/white colors is expected but I noticed this

also in aircraft with dark colors e.g A-7E of HAF with SEA camo..and not only in white part but also in Green and Brown..

PS I have to say that I live by the sea...is possible this happen due to moisture?????

This is a hard one to answer. It may be related to your seaside location but I really don't know.

The smell of Humbrols Enamel sprays is quite strong and I've had good results with their Acrylic sprays that do not smell as bad and dry super fast.

I'd be trying their Acrylic sprays or another company's product rather than persisting with this 'yellowing' Enamel varnish.

Cheers.. Dave.

Hi nemessis

If your enamels are recent Humbrol production then that is likely your answer. They are different formulations (some will not even mix together) and I've had issues with them reacting to varnishes as well. Some have cracked and curled the paint like a dried up pond others have refused to harden.

Be very careful applying Acrylic spray over Humbrol enamel BTW, in my experience this is even more of a problem.

It may be worth trying a matt varnish used by oil painters. I've had good results with them but they have to be brushed on.

I didn't knew that about formulations in new color production...I have both of them and possibly the models that are not become "yellowished" are those which painted with old kind..i cannot be sure now cause I m away on board...I also used the Acrylic varnishes on Enamel paint and the results was disastrous..(a Su-27 at 1/32 that stripped off from colors to repaint again..) and as they told me ioi..considerably "later" this series of Humbrol is to be used with Acrylic/Acrilic combination and Enamel/Enamel..I will check this with varnish for oil painters if I return....Thanks Buffon...!!!
