stevepni
What are Belkits models like for detail, fit etc? I'd never heard of them but see they do a nice looking Mk1 Escort in 1.24th that I'm tempted with.
MetroRacing
The floor is inaccurate for a period rally car. Its a curbside kit but comes with seatbelt material, vinyl parts and photo etch. Can't comment on the fit personally but they have been improving with each kit and the Escorts are their latest. Ashley
griffsrw
as a model it is fine, as an accurate kit, it just lacks a little. as previous post mentions.
Jake Moon
They seem awfully pricey for curbside kits.
MetroRacing
Why do people always complain about the price? You get a full supplement of photo etch included in the box for that price. Add more plastic and etch for an engine and gearbox and you'll easily add another £20 onto that. Look at Beemax. They produce curbside kits at around £35, which I think is what kits of the type would be priced at from other makers these days. It isn't the 90's £20 a kit anymore. Then they sell you the PE separately and you still have to buy aftermarket correction decals for the cigarette sponsors. Add all that up and your close to if not more than a Belkits model. And having both and others in my stash, Belkits gives you so much more in their big boxes. Trust me they are stuffed full lol. Ashley
Jake Moon
I'm in the US, so I was speaking of Belkits prices stateside where the Escort is 60 USD plus another $10 shipping as sadly nearly no model shop here carries them. I don't know how much cheaper they are domestically in the UK, but I'm sure they are well worth it there.

They had one in my local Antics hobby store when I popped in there earlier today for £39.99, which is roughly $52. Rich

G.E.SAUNDERS
hi Peoples , I recently ordered one of those BELKITS 1/24 Ford Escort Rally Car for Frank Morgan Owner, Editor and Builder of Australia's ModelArt Australia as he wants to do a review for his Magazine. The Model cost $86.79 aud "post free " from "simplybestprices etc.etc." on eBay. I thought it was unusual to wait 10-20 Shipping...as they advertised. .....and yes I did ask why it would take that long .apparently they buy it from AOSHIMA and don't hold the models in stock. mmmmmmmm ! watch this space Geoff F.T.G. 3156
luis pacheco
They seem awfully pricey for curbside kits. Sport cars with sponsorships on it. Negotiate the "royalties" costs money and someone has to pay.
PattheCat
These are not really cheaper on-site here in Belgium, roughly 52 $ US for the Escort. http://www.dominomodel.com/ Edited August 21, 2016 by PattheCat
gbondoni
I've built a pair of these, and they are great kits. They definitely give you value for the money, even at $52. Decals take some work to get conformed, but once there, they look amazing. The only thing I don't like about them is that the tire rubber seems to be of that kind which will eat through decals and other plastic, so take care with them! Having built their Meeke Peugeot and their Skoda, I went ahead and bought the Escort (and will be buying the Manta when it finally releases). mbdesignart
Visit the WIP section of the forum for some builds on the Escort Mk.1, they have really good info on how to modify the kit. Nick Belbin's build is invaluable in avoiding the pitfalls and highlights any corrections you may wish to undertake.
