Pete in Lincs
Nice. Saw one the other day. There's a small car museum on the road from Pickering to Scarborough. North Yorks motor museum or similar.

Tzulscha
Man that looks familiar. I used to pull engines on those thing by letting it down on my stomach and having someone pull me out from under by the ankles. Oh, on a creeper. Keeps gravel out of your trousers that way. The body colour look terrific and that engine is just the grimy lump I remember! I'll shut up now Do carry on! shood23
Looks very nice kp, I have the same kit on my redo shelf in plum crazy purple and as said above that engine looks the mutts nuts what you'd expect a 50 year old engine to look like Shaun

kpnuts
Hi all here is the next update, I'm finding it difficult not to over do the weathering, I'm going for well cared for but used, thing is I love making things old and neglected I think it makes a subject more interesting, keeping that in check is proving extremely difficult, but I have to as the spray job is one of the best I've done, I'm really proud of the gloss (although I think that's just down to the great cheap paint) (incidentally I checked out thing me bobs where my missus said they sold it in metallic colours (only gold and silver in metalic) but even better bargain only a quid a can, of course I couldn't resist so I bought another 5 cans. ElectricLightAndy
Hello Mr Nuts, Lovely job on the Karmann ghia, I saw one of these in TKmaxx a couple of years a go going for peanuts (see what I did there) and I regret not grabbing it, never mind. are the carpets flocked or velvet paint or something? looks really good Regards, Andy. kpnuts
Hi all well i ruined the rear window, got glue all over it, then panicked tried to get it off had glue on my fingers and got some on the body. It's not perfect but will have to do I think I will be able to hide some of the glue marks on the body one mark is under the door handle so when fitted hopefully it won't notice and the other I think I can polish out. ElectricLightAndy
Oh no I must confess glazing is usually my Achilles heal on planes and cars, I'm sure you'll be able to sort it Andy.
activexp
Me too, I usually manage to mess up something or lose a part on every build
bhouse
Just a thought - would a suitable scale sticker cover and disguise the damaged area ("My other car's a Porsche", "I voted remain" etc?)
kpnuts
Why is it I seem to be able to ruin even the best of kits, I thought this was going to be one of my best (spraying always seems to be my achillies heal and this was perfect) but it's gone down hill since then, I am so cross I could hurl it in the bin, it is taking super human will not to, the doors don't fit well (that's why the doors are open) the chrome trim won't stay straight yet another kit ruined, and I thought I was over my mistake spell, I recon I've got the bad modeler gene. Thanks I plan on sticking one of the country stickers on that are in the kit.
Pete in Lincs
Put it to one side, build something else, come back to it next month (no longer). The paintwork should be even drier by then and should respond to some micromesh. Can you sand down the door edges so they fit better? the paint on those can be touched up with a small brush. It could yet rise like a phoenix!
activexp
I agree with Pete in Lincs. Chill out Mr. Nuts, it's looking pretty good to me. Edited August 25, 2016 by activexp
Tzulscha
Looks pretty good to me. Yeah, set it aside for a bit and come back. Better than stomping it into rubble no matter how satisfying that might feel.
