TimMather
Time to throw everything except the kitchen sink at a sinanju!so a master grade 1/100 sinanju, a side3 resin armor upgrade kit and a full metal parts kit as well.master grade sinanjuside3 resin armor upgrade kit..the resin is the most perfect casting ive ever seen, also one of bonuses i didnt know when i bought it is it also comes with an extra bazooka and 2 gatling guns so you can fit the bazooka and the gatlings to shield. the great thing is about that is i can fit the plastic kit bazooka and machinegun together and hold that in the other hand, so it will be dripping with weapons haha. you are also given 8 metal barrels that fit to the gatlings, which is a nice touch.the metal parts upgrade kit, which is mostly 3 part thrusters and watch screws, there are 2 versions of the kit you can go with red thruster bells or gold ones, i went with gold as it would give me more options if i didnt want to go with the standard red color scheme.got a standard sheet of 3rd party decals, an alternative sinanju decal sheet which i just bought because of the silver logos, only cost a quid so not bothered if i dont use them.and i also have got a mega huge 1/60 sheet i bought for the logos to use on another kit ive got, but if needs be i can use one or two of these huge logos.standard size, sorry for crappy pic...and this oversized huge setlastly, ive just bought i different set of fuel tanks for a sazabi verka kit. so i will have a set of tanks free to use on this, il try to use them, but have to see if the will fit as they are alot fatter than the ones that come with the kit, they would look great but will have to see if they can squeese in place.so thats what ive got to work with PAINT.im still thinking of what i want to do, ive been enjoying doing glossy builds lately but i think the extra panel line detail and the use of shiny details(thrusters and pins) i nice matt paint scheme would give better contrast. as for colors im not sure yet, just know i want pastels, lol lots of pastels haha
TimMather
right had the afternoon off, had a look for pastels. and saw these mr color sets of pastels, i bought the pink and the purple, but couldnt find the green set anywhere. id really like to have all of them haha.but got the 2 so thats the paint sorted, will figure out which to use once the get here from asia.so enough with the planning, have a ton of parts to sand, i swear that most of my life as a modeller is sanding nubs.

TimMather
hay, sorry not had any updates. been busy sanding nubs. got 95% of the legs and waist resin and plastic de-nubbed. once it is all done il start the cutting and drilling for the metal parts.like i said above im going for a very japaneseasy kinda paint scheme, lots of pastel colors, watched a japanese music video the other day and it totally nailed what im going for...http://://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzC4hFK5P3gso found all the mr color pastel sets in US amazon, for some reason they dont show up on UK version? but they take forever to get here.also ive got the idea to do something different with the inner frame, im going to do it all gloss white, had that idea last week and had to get some more mr color GX white from asia, so cant paint the inner frame either, lol.so i may prep the legs/waist then have nothing to do, so if that happens il start prepping the upper body. TimMather
so finished all the de-nubbing this evening. i put the resin parts in a de-greaser to soak, and thought id get on with prep for the metal parts.the metal parts didnt come with instructions of where to put the different sizes, but seeing how they were grouped up i figured out what went where.take off all these ball joints then drill out using correct size drill bit, super simple.really simple, ive labeled the parts when i put them back in bags and will glue in place after everything is painted.next i counter sunk some small thruster vents.then i got on with sorting out a crappy looking vent.so basically the red part keeps the yellow part in place, so there is no need for the 2 gray squares to pertrude, so i cut them off!once it is painted i will glue this mesh in place, then put the red part over and finally glue the yellow part in. finally did some drilling to a bit more interest to the non resin parts of armor.thanks for looking. TimMather
so still messing around with bits and bobs, this resin is being a real pain and mold release has taken a week to come off, really think i should invest in one of those ultrasonic cleaners, anyway thought i would look into the backpack fuel tanks, i could have used the plastic ones, the resin ones or tried something else.the resin ones are a last resort, as they are super heavy solid resin that would make things really back heavy(not good)as i said before i have bought the master grade unicorn full armor backpack kit with the huge fuel tanks to fit onto a sazabi when i make it, so can take the fuel tanks from the sazabi kit and use on this.had a quick look and half built the sinanju backpack just to see if the were ant fitment issues(as i thought the sazabi tanks maybe too wide) but they are fine. so will use them.fitting is super simple, just use the ball joint that came with the sinanju, sand everything down and then weld in place.then last night i remembered watching a video of how to put more detail on the sazabi fuel tanks just by using small semi circle pla-plate, i had some around so gave it a go, used the 3 pegs to line things up, once 3 were glued in place then would put other 3 in between. came out quite well considering how crap i am at scratch building. and will look great when painted. just as im writing this, ive got a delivery of one of the mr color pastel sets, so will need to make a post about paint soon. TimMather
right, just drilled afew holes in the back of the feet, and thought it needed something else. so just used the off cuts and trimmed the into fin type bits and glued, not amazing but should look alittle better.and so with that done, ive put all the plastic in to soak. i want a super shiney finish so will not be using any primer for the inner frame and will just do lots of coats of gloss white lacquer, so all the plastic needs to be really clean and free of mold release, so will soak for a while.now lets talk about the resin, its been soaking in degreaser for 9 days and still had a sheen, this has never happened before , 4 or 5 days at the most, so yesterday i sanded all the mold release off, i like to keep things as good as poss but had to, it just was not shifting. anyway it is sitting in soapy water with the plastic so il rinse off tomorrow. then once it is dry can get on with doing some painting, talking of which, i got some paint through the post the gaia emerald green is screaming at me, so pretty sure il go with that as the main paint. TimMather
right, its been a nightmare this week, new windows fitted throughout the house and ive been itching to get on with things and is always the way the builders get half way through work and say they will be back next week to finish it off.which means i still cant clear up as ive got to keep all the access to the windows in the house clear. but anyway everything is cluttered but managed to say F it and cleared some room to do a bit of painting.so started on the hard job of the armor, i used alclad white primer which went down a dream, it dries fast so after 2 hours priming all the parts i can then get on with putting the color down.went with the emerald green, but now all the parts are sitting on sticks it seems too green and not pastel enough.once everything was painted i had used half the bottle of green and then put a load of white of same brand into the green, it gave a much nicer lighter mint green(i did some parts in that lighter color shown in photos)so may blast everything in this lighter shade when i next paint.need to get these windows done then have a proper clean and tidy up before i start the masking off to paint different colors. hopefully next update will be neater . Hunter Rose
Cool shade of green!
TimMather
Cool shade of green! thanks fella. so once everything was painted the other day it was too green, i know that painting things gloss makes everything a shade darker which will lighten once a flat clear goes on but i still wasnt happy with the mane color, so saturday i masked off all the panels i wanted to keep as a highlight then went over with the lighter mint green i mixed up. i think it looks alot better. the photos at night under my work the paint doesnt look great. today i was thinking of either a different color, or a creamy color, i lost my nerve and went for the safe option, i think the gods were trying to tell me something as the creamy duckeggg color for some unknown reason curdled, which i just dont understand at all? ive used it before on the garbaldy resin kit and it worked fine, yet now 6months later it curdles, very odd? thankfully i use universal thinners for all my cleaning, so the curdled paint just melted out with those thinners. so this that idea out of the window and being told by the modelling gods to be brave use a color, i mixed up a yellow, with gaia sunshine yellow and gaia pure white, at first peeling off the masking i didnt like it, i thought it didnt match, its only when i tried to imagine big white decals with it and the flat coat over it that i thought yeah itll work. now an hour later i love it, i grasp it, it will work. now im picturing it, i think i could even add another color. id like peoples thoughts, can you see it the way i do?
S5 modeller
That looks rather special Tim. The second, lighter green, looks much better. Fits better with the pastel scheme you're going for. Must get me a gundam kit. Matt
TimMather
ok, was a busy weekend, i did a few more bits of hand painting and masking and used pink, it was a great idea it brought everything together,so after that i started on the decals, as i said above ive got lots of decals for this, i mainly wanted the big oversized logos.i think i spent 12 hours yesterday doing decals. had a few more warning decals to do this morning but, im just about finished placing them. some are silvered so for the next few days i will be just keep alppying the microsol and percing bubbles with a pin.after that il put a quick coat of clear over then do panel lining.heres some pics.misspelling on the logo or that an A and an N look the same, anyway did a mod Edited August 30, 2016 by TimMather

rockpopandchips
Not sure about the pink but the green and yellow and decals look fantastic. What colour are you doing the frame? I may have missed any comments about the resin kit but how is it for fit etc? I ask i keep looking at the MG Jesta kit from the same company. That Bhiner web site is going to bankrupt me. Cheers.
TimMather
Not sure about the pink but the green and yellow and decals look fantastic. What colour are you doing the frame? I may have missed any comments about the resin kit but how is it for fit etc? I ask i keep looking at the MG Jesta kit from the same company. That Bhiner web site is going to bankrupt me. Cheers. it is great, it fits perfectly have not needed to do anything other than clean up, parts will be glued in place when finished. yep they do a jesta, sinanju stein and also a sazabi. yep its green, minty milkshake green, the pink will work, all the colors will work once its all together, just need some faith. so the innerframe is gloss white, which was a nightmare to do. i wanted it nice and glossy and not have any fitting issues so i did what i always do and skip primer which means i need less paint to make shiney finish, its just that the white mr color lacquer doesnt cover and lay it on too thick and it pools and the edges of dark plastic show through. so every single piece took about 5 or 6 coats of paint! ive done a whole big bottle of gx mr color today just on these parts, nightmare. but its done, now have to spray a few little bits metallic and then hand paint some details and perhaps use some of the many photoetch round parts ive got as well. normally i would put everything together once its done, eg once painted would put all the legs together then get on with upper body. but on this model i really want to photograph the inner frame on its own which means i have to wait to have everything painted before i put together. so coming upto a third of the way through. lol still so much to do!
