Saddler
Hi Fellow Modellers, Not long since my last RFI but this was half done anyway, had to wait for a part from Revell(split in main canopy), fair play they sent one no problem but had to wait 6 weeks. Top marks to Revell for customer service though, not many firms do this now. Back to the model, bit of a long story this.......................This was purchased for a song on Ebay many months ago so around May this year started on it, I was going to build it with the cowling open to reveal the engine, guns etc. Imagine my surprise when I found that the engine was missing from the sprue, along with a few other parts I assume the ebayer who sold it(no record of who) must have re-sealed the bag after filching the bits for another project. Cowling closed then. Which was abit of a sod as it engine bits are integral with the mounting of the guns and the nose area !! But I got by sort of. Then found the split in the canopy Paints are Tamiya XF-23 light blue for the U/s and Tamiya XF-59 desert yellow for topsides, some panels were lightened with Vallejo MA mixes. Vallejo MA white and Tamiya yellow (Vallejo MA yellow just does not work) . Vallejo MC 886 for the RLM02 Not my best effort but it gave me so much grief I was glad to finish it. I believe it's the old ICM mold. PS: Note to self: I must find out how to do wing nav lights, not excusable in this scale As usual all constructive criticism and hints welcome !!
polo1112
Beautiful model of the Bf-109 F!!! But please (I think it is a typo) do not write Marsielle, but write Marseille. It is the same word as the second town in France, the most filthy, the town where you will find the most thugs or scum, the shame of France. But your model is very realistic and has nothing to do with that dirty town. You did a great job and I can only congratulate. Kind regards. Polo. :wow: Edited July 24, 2016 by polo1112

Nav lights are easy - for a an easy 'add', cut a suitably-sized corner of plastic out of the wing tips, fill with piece of clear - or suitably coloured- sprue super-glued in place and file/sand to shape and then buff clear BTW and FWIW I think polo1112 is a bit harsh on Marseille, personally I love the place and have never had any issues while there - but then I've not visited the same districts that Ross Kemp went to ...the sea really is that fantastic blue as well. And currently 35 C today as well..
polo1112
Hello FalkeEins. I don't think I am to harsh with Marseille. I don't know if you understand French? But if you do, read some French newspapers or go on information sites. You will learn that a lot of crimes are committed every day, such as murders, drugs dealing, prostitution and so on. Many rival gangs of the Mafia are fighting again one another., In Marseille there are some suburbs where the police doesn't go any more, of fear to be killed. It is sad but it is so. Of course, if you only go as a tourist, there is no problem, the sea is blue, the weather is fine and the kitchen can be delicious when it is not overpriced. I am very sorry but I would invite you to discover other regions of France that are beautiful. Sincerely yours. Polo. jean
Hi Saddler, for a kit without an engine, nobody would have known as you did a grand job with it! So well done all around! The brown camo has come out real good too. Just one point: the weathering on the underside of the elevators is a bit overbearing in my eyes, as if a wash had not been cleaned up. But there again, unless you look under its skirt, nobody would notice! It just looks excellent. JR
WildeSau75
nice one - like it. Love the German desert paintings - and you did it justice. Cheers, Michael
AdrianMF
Looks great! I really like the weathering on the plain camouflage with the fading, dust and exhaust stains. [nit pick] Under the tail plane could do with a mist of blue again. I know, we shouldn't be looking underneath! [/nit pick]If you paint the nav light dark around the border first, then add the colour inside the border, then do a dot of lighter colour, it looks more realistic than a single colour and it's quicker than cutting and sanding bits of clear plastic: Really nice model and a great colour scheme. Saddler
Thanks for the comments and tips folks. Regarding the elevator under sides the truth is I forgot to remove the excess wash😯 loops. Cheers Saddler
