Cheers Steve,

Looks like a different berth from when I last went alongside there on her. I may be wrong though. After all, I did nearly get lost trying to find the A19 from there when I left her.

From what I saw last night Darby a few of the crew lost her and they were only having a bevvy in the town!HMS Blyth is in front

of her I think.

the stickiest floor I've ever known,

Ah, sticky floors in Geordie pubs, brilliant. We used to have a nightclub in Hebburn with just such a floor, I knelt down on the 'carpet' one night to tie my lace and the resulting mark left on my jeans was there for the rest of their life, resisting all attempts at removal. This place was so classy that we used to go there after doing a 'job & knock' night shift at Blyth power station for a couple of pints, straight off the boiler in work gear so you can imagine how minging we were & nobody ever so much as batted an eyelid, happy days.

Hi Darby, sadly we won't see either of the two new carrier's at this quay they may fit up at North Shield's I'm not sure, gone are the day's when we

would get a destroyer up to Newcaste quayside thank's to the Yuppies! That remind's me I alway's knew my Uncle Jack served in the navy

during the war I have an old B&W photo of him and friends on the dockside in front of his ship only just found out he was on HMS Wild Goose

she had an interesting war.

Dear God! I remember holes in the walls, the stickiest floor I've ever known, someone sparked out on a seat, only cider left on tap and a feeling I wouldn't get out alive.

Sounds like a good run ashore to meq:drink:...... I think the phrase BEBOBOBS springs to mind
