richellis
Moving this along a bit, Ive added a few extras to the cab AEC half cab build by richellis1978, on Flickr AEC half cab build by richellis1978, on Flickr I'm happy with the metal foil bonnet as its bent and battered nicely with handling while working on the cab, Ive added the mirror arms, the passenger side one will be missing, but the driver will have one. the indicators have both been broken off so the base, some wires and bits are there, they will be painted later to make them stand out. I scratch made a door handle for the cab door and need to drill out the headlight as that will be missing too, as will some trim so Ill be adding some holes to show missing fixings. there are some 'repairs' to the cab, they are not good repairs, but I want it to look rough! AEC half cab build by richellis1978, on Flickr AEC half cab build by richellis1978, on Flickr AEC half cab build by richellis1978, on Flickr AEC half cab build by richellis1978, on Flickr The cab is on the chassis, all axles are in place and Ive started detailing the chassis, some plumbing has been started, with the engine, diesel and hydraulic tanks in place The bumper is foil and I keep bending it, and having to bend it back to shape! The chassis needs lots of work yet, and I think the tipper will have a plastic frame with foil parts so it can be battered as the real trucks where.
richellis
wow, 2 updates in 2 days! Today I added some resin bolts to the chassis for detail, and some flitch plates to the chassis also, nothing too square or accurate as I want the 'fixed in the field' look to a used and abused look for a truck that wouldn't see the road again Untitled by richellis1978, on Flickr I have also cut the grill away and added some mesh, and the trim. Ive drilled some holes in the front of the cab, to look like some missing trim but I'm not convinced and I think they will be filled in as the effect doesn't work for me Untitled by richellis1978, on Flickr Inside the cab has now got a seat, steering wheel and column, some detail to be added yet but its looking like a cab now Untitled by richellis1978, on Flickr Untitled by richellis1978, on Flickr back to work for the day tomorrow so no modelling for me!
richellis
Had a couple of days off and in between 'jobs' around the house Ive got some paint on, the cab, it had a coat of white on the roof and my plan is to sand it back to give a pinky sun bleached look. The door is odd, it will get a decal to look like its off another lorry. The chassis has been painted silver, a spray from poundland! Looks OK and it will be covered in mud and dirt anyway. First coat of black on the wings and window rubbers too. Starting to get somewhere. I also got some plastic at Cosford for the tipper body ribs, I plan to make the flat sections from a thick foil baking tray so I can distress it! AEC MM6 work in progress by richellis1978, on Flickr AEC MM6 work in progress by richellis1978, on Flickr One wheel is just to check my nuts fit, and the clearance on the cab. only 9 more to make, then its fitting the 10 nuts per hub!

richellis
I found a plastic tipper body on ebay, I think its AMT, It was expensive but perfect for this build, Ive cut it down in length and added a cab guard, and new hinges at the back. AEC mammoth tipper build by richellis1978, on Flickr AEC mammoth tipper build by richellis1978, on Flickr I plan to paint the tipper with differant layers, using salt so I can give a chipped well abused look as they would often swap bodies, cabs and engines about in the field to keep as many trucks moving at any time

richellis
I've been carrying on with this behind a magazine build, The cab and body are together with the cab needing mirror and wiper adding then it's adding some dirt and mud! Will sit on a base when done, muddy field I think to look like it's parked up for the weekend!
