bootneck
I have an interest to build a Royal Fleet Auxiliary (R.F.A.) support ship for a diorama and am trying to find some plans for the Fort Class support ship. This types of vessels were built during WW2 in the U.S. and Canada as Forts, Oceans and Parks and were used extensively by the R.F.A. in the 1950's and 1960's. Typical vessels were: Fort Sandusky, Rame Head, Hartland Point etc. Does anyone know of a source of plans for these types of vessels? I have Googled, checked Jecobin Plans, plus other plans suppliers but to no avail. cheers Mike
ShipbuilderMN
Hi Mike, Yes, the book A Great Fleet of Ships, The Canadian Forts & Parks by S C Heal, An envelope in the back of the book contains a GA plan of one of them. 440 feet long, 57 feet 2 inches beam, 9,300 tons. The plan is at 16 feet to 1 inch, and fully detailed, including lines plan. Bob
ShipbuilderMN
You can find the on www.bookfinder.com The cheapest is £17.65, that includes postage, so it is not too bad, considering it is an excellent book, as well as having the plan.bob
