73north
I can also recommend VERY Highly Warship Profile 2: HMS Cossack / Tribal Class Destroyer ( Paperback – 1970 ) This was written by a real expert David Lyon and is a great reference booklet with 28 detailed pages including rare photos of the Tribals under construction
beefy66
Thanks for the info 73north at the minute I, am using the Shipway's book on the tribal some good info in there Been trying to get the right color match for the green as the one I have in the Akah set looks to be very light so will have a play around this weekend to get a better mix beefy

beefy66
Quote maybe try the paint from White Ensign Models ?? - very good stuff White Ensign do not have the paint range any more but Sovereign Hobbies do stock the colorcoats range now for about the last 2 years I think. But I always use acrylic paints when using by airbrush not to keen on using enamels.
73north
okay , fair enough I can however highly recommend the Master Models 4.7 inch gun barrels for your build - amazing detail

73north
Yeah , I admit I have also used them for my aircraft models ( 1/48 scale ) and they really do look far superior to the kit ones ( another addition I loved was the hollow metal ' Moskit ' kit exhausts ( 1/48 ) the difference it made to the Model was phenomenal - but I digress ) I am kicking myself , 15 years ago , I built HMS Prince of Wales ( 1/350 ) and the only aftermarket thing I added was silk sheet flag set from a really good supplier of aftermarket Silk 1/350 RN ' White Ensign' Flags - the difference this made to the look of the model was amazing ! I have tried to find a similar set for a 1940 Destroyer to no avail so far......... good luck with your build !
longshanks
Hi Keith I don't know if it helps but listed below are the RN/Vallejo colour equivalents http://www.ipmsswamp.com/files/VallejoWWIINavalColorEquivalents.pdf Cheers Kev
Modelholic
Be wary of the pom-pom AA gun (aft superstructure near TT) used a 4 barrel mount, I believe Trumpeter have included an 8 barrel mount! WEM used to make a 4 barrel mount. Tom
PZRGREN
Following this as I have the Eskimo in the same scale and need to have a go. Your PE skills look excellent, might get the WEM set as well.
73north
I have also bought the HMS Eskimo 1/350 - and plan to build it as HMS Cossack in late 1939 kit will arrive end of week - the after market stuff over the next 2-3 weeks These are the after market items I have also bought - especially the after market pdr Mark-VII Quad mount – from North Star Models ( as Trumpeter offer a 8 barrel version in the kit never fitted to RN Destroyers ) and WEM 1/350 Photo-etch , and HMS Eskimo Boat and Propeller Set , and Master Model after-market Brass 4.7 inch barrels and wooden decks by ARTWOX these 5 additions should make it a fantastic Model http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bigblueboy-PE-1-350-Vickers-13mm-0-50-Quad-AA-gun-4-sets-35008-/171895302651?hash=item2805c229fb http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-350-Royal-NAVY-2-pdr-Mark-VII-Quad-mount-4-pcs-NorthStarModels-/302168920596?hash=item465aabd214:g:Hd0AAOSwhOVXerWZ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRITISH-4-7in-45-MK-IX-XII-BARRELS-TO-I-J-K-N-O-Q-TRIBAL-CLASSES-350078-/381744199554?hash=item58e1ba3782:g:YCgAAOSwm8VUsnPt http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Holzdeck-fur-1-350-HMS-Eskimo-Trumpeter-05331-Artwox-AW10094-/322304605264?hash=item4b0ad9fc50:g:~b0AAOSwHMJYDf5N https://www.whiteensignmodels.com/p/WEM+1350+HMS+Eskimo+Boat+and+Propeller+Set+PRO+3534/18693/#.WICKNORviUk ( new Boats and 2 Propellers )
beefy66
Look forward to seeing your builds 73north Meanwhile a small update did have a darker green on the hull but have made it lighter by adding a small amount of medium grey this was mixed with Tamiya paints Dark green on it,s own Then the lighter shade It does look better in the day light beefy
longshanks
The smaller the scale the lighter the shade should be ............ scale effect ? If it looks good to you it's probably right Kev

beefy66
Not sure it will go to plan always end up changing something Any how main part of the painting done a lot of masking off and this is what came out a few touch ups around the boot top area but quite pleased with it very fiddly trying to mask around the PE rails The green does look better in the lighter shade beefy
