XV571
Aha! From October 2012, flat Norfolk I still can't find the airline... Flybe livery (?) but 'operated by'... gaaahh... who is it? I remember looking them up on the 'net at the time and being fascinated by the story. I'd like to say that once I get an idea in my mind I'm like a terrier and won't let it go, but I'm more like a monkey: Hi Ced, The aircraft in your photo is a Dornier 328. In 2012 it would be operated by Loganair as a FlyBe franchisee. Loganair inherited them when they bought Suckling Airways and rebranded them as ScotAirways before going on to be a BA franchise. Here's the Wikipedia page for Suckling Airways: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suckling_Airways. Hopefully you can now rest easy Jonathan PS Love your B-24, it brought back fond memories of the one I built as a boy with all the working bits. It had many imaginary sorties over Germany with blu-tak holding the bombs in the bomb-bay ready to be unleashed on the collection of dastardly enemy tanks and aircraft below!

Thanks Matt and welcome Hi Benedikt. The Bare Metal Foil is from the Bare Metal Foil Co of Michigan (I wonder what they specialise in?) and, at £6 a sheet, it had better be good. I mean, that like, ooo, €7 at current exchange rates (glum). Having said that we made £34 on a refund during the current 'problems' so I'm not complaining! Welcome Simon, glad to have you along. Welcome Leon Ooo, deep... Welcome Dermot - I hope I can live up to your expectations! But it's not looking that good. On the assumption that the multi-stage crew painting is going to be slower that assembling the internals I've cut these guys off the runners: Eight crew members. Well, six and two halves. I spent about an hour cleaning these up with a molding flash sander and Micromesh sticks and had a growing sense of, well, not spending my time wisely Two cabin stewards with trays and two pilots, all with high-altitude pressure discs in their suits - or are they ejector marks? It also looks like one of the pilots is a relative of Joseph Merrick. The rest of the crew aren't much better: but I did spend some time cleaning up the very realistic (irony) gun mounts. Have you noticed as well that they're all wearing USAAF issue onesies? Enough, I think. And no, I won't be bothering to fill the ejector marks - what would I use as a model for the 'correct' shape? I've also dry fitted the internals in another game of 'hide the ejector marks': Nice fit. Except the 'opening nose wheel doors' require a mechanism that isn't, I think, close to the original? There's a mass of other interior detail (not) and a detailed panel: also not. Although I have a cunning plan for this that cannot will probably fail. The instructions say the cockpit internals should be H81 - Pale Yellow. Is that right? It may just get blasted with IG like the rest. Ah Ced, Those crew members. Just how cool is that ball turret gunner? Almost as cool as the bombardier in the original Airfix B-17G kit. In my youth, I couldn't wait to get home from that crummy school to fly these things around the house. Lovely memories of a less demanding and more imagination-filled model aeroplane era. I will follow this with interest, Michael
CedB
Thanks Michael It was a nostalgic build and I'm sure, when I built her in my teens, I would have had all the 'moving parts' working. Ah, those were the days...
