Cheers Tony Certainly food for thought Tony! I haven't bought any new Hasegawa kits in years. Priced themselves right out of my market. Second hand prices are usually a lot more reasonable. However, been a long time since they produced anything I really wanted so I guess it does not matter anyway. There will always be those who will attempt to justify the OTT prices but, are the UK prices the fault of the manufacturer or the importer? Certainly, you can save a fortune by ordering from abroad. Personal choice will dictate if you think the kits are worth the money. I do wonder though that if Hasegawa were (for example) to produce a 1/72 Spey Phantom kit priced at £50+ and, a 1/72 Vulcan B-2 at £100+ would all modellers craving such beasts swallow their pride and fork out the readies despite their whinges about pricing? Cheers Tony I guess they can, otherwise the price would have to drop to sell them. I've only bought one Hasegawa kit's in the last few years at full price, the rest when they were on sale, but I did stock up several years back when they were still a sensible price. If Hasegawa came out with a new tooled kit, that was a type I was really after and there wasn't any good competition out there (1/48th Hornet, MS.406, Spitfire Mk.XIV & Mk.XI, Beaufort, Yak-9, Welkin, P-47N , P-40F/L for example) then I would pay the price, as it's still cheap compared to other forms of entertainment (especially the speed I build at!) and people are willing to high prices for resin kit (which of course have high manufacturing prices) when there is no descent competition. Tbolt Posted August 27, 2016 Share Posted August 27, 2016 Just seen the reissue of Hasegawa 1/72 X-29 is retailing at £44.99! At first I thought it must be two kits in the box, but it's not.
