activexp
I wasn't going to post a WIP on this build but as things seem rather quiet at the moment I thought I'd give it a go. The completed engine minus the exhaust pipes. The supplied tubing isn't ideal and difficult to push onto the pins without expanding the ends. I used tubing left over from another build for the spark plug and distributor boots and substituted the supplied yellow tubing for the ignition leads with 0.5mm kynar wire. The bodyshell painted with Tamiya TS-44 brilliant blue.
activexp
A little more progress on this build. Engine mounted to the chassis and more tubing. The cutting length templates in the instructions are mostly wrong being much longer than needed.
RichO
This is so cool watching this. I saw this car in person, along with a host of other cars just like it at an NHRA race here years ago. Very cool!

activexp
Hi all, a small update on this build. Front axle, steering column and linkages fitted and more tubing. It's going together quite well although some parts need a little extra work to get a good fit. For a kit that's 28 years old it's pretty good really.

CrittAA791
Just a short note from a former FC guy.The blower snout bracket has three mounting holes indicated, drilling these out would enhance the engine and the overflow tubing from the cylinder head thermostat at front of heads were usually plumbed with solid metal in place of the flex tubing supplied. Most cars ran solid tubing for the intake injectors as well and it looks better than the plastic tubing supplied with the kit. All the connectors for plumbing the cars used AN/aircraft quality fittings anodized blue, red or gold. Looking forward to see the finished car !
activexp
Many thanks for the info Yep, the pipework isn't good and fiddly to say the least. If the kit was available in a larger scale, 1/12 or even 1/8, it would be much easier to enhance the model with more accurate detailing as you suggest. I might attempt 'anodizing' some of the plumbing connectors with clear blue paint, if I can keep a steady hand. Wish me luck! Cheers, Steve
activexp
Steady progress on this build. Side and rear panels fitted along with fire extinguisher, rear brakes, brake lever....and more fiddly tubing. This more or less completes the chassis. Next up, the body and a lot of decals.

activexp
Just when I thought this build was going well, the windscreen cracked down the middle. I wasn't using any undue force on it, only applying masking tape for the frame At least I managed to get the decals on without further mishap.
