almac
Evening all. As the title says I will be building a Hasegawa A-5. The decals are from Skymodels FW 190 set. I wasn't sure what to build but my choices were narrowed by which kits I could find.I have some more somewhere in my disaster of a loft but couldn't find them. Anyways I have decided to go with an A-5 Yellow 2 flown by Josef Wurmheller. As this kit is quite simple I hope to make some progress tonight and will hopefully post some pics later.Cheers Allan

almac
Evening all. Made some progress tonight, painted the cockpit, instrument panel decals on, all ready to go in the fuselage. This kit requires some hatches filled in to make it an A-5 so I filled them according to the instructions. Fuselage and wings have been glued and I will clean up the seams tomorrow and pop in the cockpit tub. So far so good. hopefully I can keep this one moving forward as lately as I struggle to find time for modelling my interest wanes and when I get the time I can't be bothered. But as this is a simple build I will get this one done....probably. Anyway as it's late that's me done for tonight, cheers Allan

Touvdal
Very nice build the Hasegawa kit is very good. Build a few. Not to be a party spoiler you must change the underwing bulges for the MG FF for it to become a A-5 Cheers Jes Edited July 14, 2016 by Touvdal
almac
Thanks guys for the comments chaps. Jes should the underwing bulges be removed on the a-5? I wasn't sure about that. Cheers Allan
Touvdal
The Hasegawa kit has the A-6,7,8 underwing bulges for the Mk 151 20mm Canons but the A-5 has similar bulges as the A-4 for MK FF. This is actually a very good guide http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2004/11/stuff_eng_fw190_01.htm Cheers Jes Edited July 15, 2016 by Touvdal
almac
Thanks Jes for the link and info. The variations of the armament on the fw 190 are confusing to say the least. It would appear that the Hasegawa kit needs more than filling in some panels to make the a-8 into the a-5. The main issue for me is the underwing bulge which is very different to that of the a-8 and I don't think I could replicate it easily so I may have to accept the model won't be totally accurate. Another issue I've come across is the photos on the web of Wurmheller's 190 are in fact of an a-6 and not his a-5.Having realised this my first thought was well I'll just make it an a-6 and that would solve the armament issue but I've bought the Master gun barrels for the a-5 which of course are different to the a-6. So I either make an a-6 and keep the gun barrels for another kit later on or make an inaccurate a-5.Anyways enough of my ramblings. Touvdal
Sorry to get you confused But the here is a very nice ref. from Neil's excelent page. http://falkeeins.blogspot.dk/2015/11/lt-sepp-wurmheller-staffelkapitan-9-jg.html so you can go for a A-5 cheers Jes
almac
I am indeed confused by the 190 wing variations. I'm still not sure if my model is a 5 or a 6 but I will crack on regardless. Cheers Allan
Touvdal
I would go for the A-6 it will be easiest and most accurate to make, your hatch filling is easy to remove. cheers Jes

JimmyZ
Seems almost like this kit just falls together doesn't it? Looking good there, can't wait to see it with paint. Cheers Jimmy
almac
Evening all. Started on the painting last night but it was a bit of a trial to be honest. I started with Gunze RLM 76 which sprayed really watery without any thinner added so I switched to Xtracrylic RLM 76 but it was barely any better. Don't know what the issue was maybe it was too cold I, know it's summer but it's a Scottish summer and my heating was on the blink. Anyway I managed to get the RLM 76 done and the yellow bit on the cowl and rudder so here are the pics. hope to get some more done tonight. almac
Evening all. Quick update before I go off to work. RLM 74 & 75 painted last night and this morning. Still needs some mottle and tidying up of overspray on the fuselage but I'm happy with what I've done. Nightshift for 3 days so no modelling till the weekend.
