Tamiya 1/35 M4A3E8 Sherman

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

In part 3 of the great bench clearance I have here the new Sherman Easy 8 by Tamiya. Having built the Asuka kit of the tank which generally was better detailed but an absolute git when it came to the running gear, I can safely say I enjoyed the new Tamiya kit more even if it meant sacrificing some details. The model however was painted in Tamiya's rendition of olive drab and toned down with thinned Raw umber filters to capture the rich soils of the Ardenne being deposited everywhere. Though, this detail is rather subtle to say the least...

Moving forwards I decided to try mixing Humbrol Model-Filler with poly cement only to dump a dark brown Humbrol paint in it. The results were interesting to say the least; the paste made was good for mud that had dried and I had to over estimate the tone of paint used as the light grey filler added to the colour which made it about two tones lighter then it should be.

After making experimental mud pies with solvents, as you know, you do on quiet Sunday afternoons, I raided the spares box for a ration box and German Jerry Can as the two American ones came with the kit.

Thanks for looking!
