rbeach84
All, I have completed a survey of the decals applied to the original filming miniature using online resources such as 'Steve B's OneDrive image archive and the Modeler Magic reference archives. I've since produced two artifacts. One is a PDF of the decal artwork I've drawn of the original 1/24 Airfix Harrier decals - apparently the only donor sheet for the model - using a high rez scan of same as templates. It includes a ruler showing the original size as well as a proposed grouping of the graphics to allow for printing on clear and white decal films. Not nearly as complex as the 5-Footer Falcon, thank goodness! The files are hosted on our local modeling club's website for easy access:http://hamptonroadsscalemodelers.com/star-wars-a-wing-decals-of-the-studio-model/Hope this is of use to any A-Wing builders. As always, appreciate any input on my efforts.Regards, Robert

andygif290368
thanks for posting the link, just spent and hour or so slamming the BanDai A-Wing together. It's back in the box again now till I get the paints out. Had a busy couple of weekends putting BanDai Star Wars stuff together, then breaking back down again so it can wait in the queue for paint. First Order Trooper, Darth, Speeder bike & Scout Trooper and now the A-Wing That just leaves the X-Wing and Y-Wing in the stash to be built and clone troopers on order. Anyone got a suggestion for what the colour inside the A-wings engine pods is, its not listed on the callouts. Seems to be a Yellowy/Buff colour, chromate yellow maybe? Andrew D Jolly Rogers guy
Could you clarify what you mean by "inside the engine pods"? I assume you don't mean inside the engine cylinders themselves, do you mean in between them? Can you show us with a diagram or something? I do know that yellow zinc chromate was used extensively on the studio A-Wing to show areas of paint peeling.
andygif290368
by inside the engine pods I mean, if you look at the instructions sheet, the colour call out/ decal placement images show a distinct yellow/orange/buff tint. See instruction sheet image here http://www.themodellingnews.com/2016/06/in-boxed-bandais-172nd-scale-wing.html or this one of a completed kit here http://modelkitsreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/bandai-a-wing-starfighter-picture-featured.jpg Edited July 4, 2016 by andygif290368
Andrew D Jolly Rogers guy
Oh, I see what you mean...I suspect, and I could be wrong, but I suspect that's an interpretation of this famous studio model shot (see link) in which the reflection from the lighting is clear. I never thought of that as the actual color. http://www.starshipmodeler.com/starwars/md_A-wing_02.jpg
Caerbannog
It is not the actual colour. Here is the studio model (pic taken in Munich on the Star Wars Identities Ex): Plus some more pics for reference: For some odd reason I do not have any pics from the bottom - but the exhibition was obviously not meant for reasearch more for entertaining. The lightning conditions were plain awful. I tried to compare colours to my fan decks (call me Nerd) but to no avail as there were at least thre different type of light sources. Still you can see that the engine insides were the same light grey colour as on the outside plus a darker grey misted over. René
