Mbox Mosquito as B.35 VP202

This is the Matchbox Mosquito with an Aeroclub bulged bomb bay, the gorgeous Aeroclub paddle blade props and spinners, the correct shaped vac canopy from Paragon and excellent Freightdog decals. She represents VP202 CX-B of 14 Squadron RAF visiting RAF West Malling in 1950.

The only real challenge was the canopy. I think the canopy sits a bit high but if I had trimmed it to sit lower, it would have shortened the length too much and not covered the cockpit opening. The framing was handpainted out of frustration as my painted decal strips just kept breaking up. I tried to straighten the framing edges with a cocktail stick but the paint is a bit grainy so it wouldn't clean up to a nice straight edge.

I had one weird occurrence: the upper roundels wrinkled after I put on a topcoat of Future. Very odd. I had to do some remedial work to get them to settle down again!

I didn't weather her or even put on a light exhaust stain because a photo I have of this actual aircraft shows that she was kept squeaky clean.

Here she is will the other two completed Mossies on my shelf - an Airfix FB6 and an Mbox NF36.
