JMChladek
Very nice work and I like the idea of using computer pin connectors to attach the nose and the pod to the spine sections.
Kallisti
Nice job, VIP Eagle one of the more colourful versions, although there is an argument goign on about how far the orange extends on the Passenger Pod - I like what you did here!
StevieB
Nice job, VIP Eagle one of the more colourful versions, although there is an argument goign on about how far the orange extends on the Passenger Pod - I like what you did here! Thanks Kallisti. I'm aware of the argument. For me I cant see why the orange would extend up past the windows on the VIP pod as I would see this as a normal all white passenger pod with a subtle internal refit perhaps. Painting the sides only would be enough to designate it as VIP, and then easy enough to revert back to normal, with minimal external work. I can see why the medical pod stripes would extend up however to really show it as a specialist pod for visibility reasons. Steve
JMChladek
High resolution screen caps of Eagles are now possible, thanks to the Series 1 and 2 Blu-rays, so we finally managed to see what the VIP pod looked like. I went ahead and cropped a shot from the Catacombs while also brightening it up and kicking up the contrast a little. This is what I got: As you can see, they sort of painted up top, but didn't do it completely as it looks pretty sloppy near the skylight windows (it is heavily shaded, and almost looks like they used black up there). Now this is a 22" pod as they never did it on the 44" (even though Sisson found evidence of orange paint on the #1 44's pod in one spot) and given how there have been a few differences in shots between 22" and 44" models, there is enough fudge factor there to go either way I say.Now StevieB, I really like your interpretation, especially the orange color you chose. Most eveyone else doing a VIP pod seems to be going with International Orange, which doesn't look right to my eye as it is a little too dark and eye popping. Your coloring is more a faded yellow/orange which looks more accurate (possibly the same color used on the Hawks). Very nice job!

Your coloring is more a faded yellow/orange which looks more accurate (possibly the same color used on the Hawks). Very nice job! Interesting - colours used were Tamiya acrylic Orange (X-6), and weathered with Tamiya acrylic Smoke (X-19). Everything overcoated with Humbrol Clear (gloss) - 2 light coats. All airbrushed. To me the orange looks just right, and happy with the final result. My main worry was the Clear going over the acrylics as I had fine spiderlines / cracks developing with it over Tamiya acrylic mat black - fortunately this didn't happen with the orange. For the beak painting I swapped to Humbrol acrylic black to avoid this, as the first attempt went horribly wrong after spraying the Clear over Tamiya black - resulting in the cracks and a complete strip down and repaint....not happy...! JMChladek
Hmmm, how much Humbrol clear are you spraying over the black areas? I'm thinking it could be related to the clear trying to coat over a flat color since the flat paint was likely trying to soak it in like a sponge while the gloss painted areas don't react the same way. Maybe perhaps going with a semi-gloss first before gloss might help.
StevieB
Not too much - a light coat first, followed by a heavier. The cracks appeared suddenly, overnight, about a week after the Clear coats. Bad enough to require a complete sanding down and repaint. I have the Satin Clear also and did some tests first - however it leaves a chalky finish - really noticeable over the flat black, so kept to the Gloss Clear. Anyway - my method worked - the second time !

Lee Chambers
Cracking looking Eagle,i have one in my stash, just going to pick up the new Paragrafix photo etch set for it before i start the build early next year.
Kallisti
I looked at the Paragrafix etch set and couldn't see a single thing on there that I'd use in a build, so to me its just another waste of money.
