Porsche Tiger/VK.4501 1/35 help

Hey guys, sorry if this is in the wrong place I had no idea where to put it.

But I have a question about the models, or lack of, of the Porsche Tiger prototypes. So far I've only found two that are available. The Dragon kit with Zimmerit, which is no good to me because I want a Tiger without Zimmerit. And the other option is the Platz Girls und Panzer version, which is the kit I'm looking for, but I don't want to have to explain the brand and packaging, understandably.

So my question is this.

Are there any kits out there of a clean Porsche Tiger I with no Zimmerit?

Dragon did also do the Tiger (P) sans Zimmerit, actually. The Platz GuP boxing I have (bought a year or so ago from HLJ) is this one, not the Italeri one - despite what HLJ say on their website (much to my delight). My kit is tucked away in the cupboard but IIRC the turret is the production type with the single plate roof. There is probably a review on David Bryden's Tiger tanks website (whose URL I forget, alas).

I too find the Japanese enthusiasm for cartoons of teenage misses rather disconcerting, but the GuP Tiger (P) kit itself isn't that offputting in the actual packaging and nobody has commented on it adversely to me, though my partner certainly would if she spotted anything worthy of comment. The transfers are of course GuP but this may not matter depending on what you want to build.

Or at least the Dragon kit is in the boxing I have, with extra parts to sort-of-but-not-very-accurately-convert the turret to a prototype with the three part roof, etc.

The basic Platz kit sans the extra bits seems to be this one, http://hlj.com/product/PLZGP-5/Mil. But I can't say for sure what kit is in this boxing. It's not impossible that it could be the Italeri kit, for all I know. Platz d use Italeri sprues in other GuP packs.

BTW, I'm wary of Platz box top art after finding that the Dragon Hetzer in their GuP box is not the variant shown in the box artwork.)

... went and checked the kit, which I should have done. The above is correct, though it's actually nominally a Cyber-Hobby kit not Dragon one (same thing really). Also this boxing has the Dragon Styrene flexible tracks rather than indy links - which is Good or Baaad depending on your view of them (I have the Model Kasten set somewhere so this is not an issue for me).

Regarding kit track types, yes it depends what you prefer working with, but have read some dreadful stuff on Dragon's flexies. The plastic has deteriorated over time, even those that weren't painted and still in the box.

regards,

Jack
