Recommended Posts

HI folks, this is my SAS Jeep in North Africa vignette project. It is a excellent opportunity to let my finalized SAS Jeep more interesting:

1. Tamiya 35219 Willys Jeep MB + Legend LF 1017 SAS Jeep conversion set + 3 Italeri's Vickers .303 mg + one Academy's Browning AN M2 + many others details.

2. Verlinden palm tree.

3. Two Master Box soldiers.

Hi Carius and welcome to the Vignette GB. Your jeep looks amazing! I love all the stowage and detailing. That's an impressive palm tree too. Not seen those - I've got a GB later this year where I could use one or two like that

Looking forward to seeing this progress.

Kind regards,

Stix

This is going to look brill Carius.

I love what you've already done with the jeep it looks just right. I had considered doing something similar myself, but sold off both my SAS jeeps at the Northern Model Show earlier this month.

Brillant model and a very cool subject.....Don't forget to include air-recognition panels for both sides. :coolio:

You are quite right, the panels don't seem to be visible in photos of Jeeps, but I've heard anecdotal evidence of their use first hand, from the horse's mouth (my father was friends with one of the original menbers of the regiment who settled down in Worcester), I suppose this might refer to the period when SAS teams were inserted by the LRDG?

Sorry for the delay...meanwhile I was finishing another project (a japanese Type 89 medium tank).

So, I have painted the palm tree and my next step (today) is to prepare the desert base with smooth modelling mass...

Great work with Jeep Carius and I'm looking forward to seeing how your palm trees turn out.

I was less than successful with some plastic ones earlier in the year!

What you were assembling at the beginning of the year?

Hi Carius

Here's an example of one of my plastic palm trees! They are 1/72.

Hi Carius. Great to see more progress. I'm looking forward to seeing that palm tree go together. I've only used some pre-made ones from Woodland's Scenics before and they are only just about okay.

Kind regards,

Stix
