whitestar12chris
For your enjoyment and nostalgia, an OOB build of Polar Lights re-issue of the aurora 8 window model of the Seaview submarine which spawned a movie and 4 seasons of television, which i remember as a kid. I now have the DVD boxset to digest and probably have a giggle over now. Anyway the kit considering its age went together well with very few fit issues, a small amount of filler, the only problem was the front windows lining up, probably with a little more care they would have lined up, bit this was a spur of the moment build for some fun, taking a break from my more serious builds. Therapy it was and it worked. It was painted in humbrol enamels, no masking (practising my steady hand LOL) and then humbrol satin coated, the windows to the doors on the sail were kristal cleared. Finally i found a very realistic octopus on fleabay to finish it off. Enjoy Chris
Hunter Rose
Haha love the octopus! Great build Chris, its captured the cheesy fun of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Takes me back to sunday roasts as a kid with this on in the background
Tzulscha
That is a bloody HUGE octopus! One of the few times the TV show was better than the movie. Although we DID get Barbra Eden in the movie....
davecov
Did the instructions tell you to rock and stagger from side to side in a violent motion as you built it? Dave
whitestar12chris
I watched the movie before i built it for reference and to see Barbara again I did have to laugh towards the end, the model has missile silo's side by side in two rows, the full size mock-up of the area behind the sail was just wide enough for two people to stand shoulder to shoulder with only one central missile hatch. Call the continiuity brigade LOL Yet to watch the tv series, got the box set for xmas. Will need some beers to simulate the rock and stagger LOL All the best Chris
