Tiger331
Hi Folks Exercise SABER STRIKE 16 drew to a close this week with an impressive combined Air/Land Exercise Demonstration earlier today at the Central Training Area and on a section of highway close to the capital, Tallinn. Here are some rather average photos from the event that may be of interest. US Army AH-64D returns following a live firepower demo over the Central Training Area on 20 Jun 16. Finnish Army NH-90. A welcome visitor to the event bringing a delegation from Finland to discuss the outcome of Finnish participation in the Exercise. The Finns provided a Light Reconnaissance Troop to the exercise mounted on South African manufactured 4WD combat scout vehicles. Michigan ANG A-10C Thunderbolts land on a former Soviet Highway strip some 25Km SE of the capital, Tallinn. This is believed to be the first time that A-10s have operated from a highway strip since the late 1980s when such activity was a regular event in former West Germany at the height of the Cold War. Four jets were originally scheduled to complete the trial with each completing a landing, turnaround and re-launch in the opposite direction. The fourth aircraft, however, suffered a bird strike on approach and had to abandon its participation. A-10C enjoying the sunshine on the eve of the longest day in Estonia !. This photo was taken at around 7.30pm (local time) this evening. Looks like this may be the MI ANG 'Flagship' jet since it sports high visibility titling and unit badge. A great day out of the office although the lighting conditions were a little challenging at times. Hope you like them
