Supertom
And here's me trying to reduce the stash! Very nice so far Ken..How many Sukhoi's now? Richard. I believe the answer is, "not enough."
Supertom
I'm not sure about the AKAN colours - I'm still trying to decide. Ken I was just about to ask - I seem to recall seeing your mentioning somewhere that AKAN's Su-33 colours are incorrect depending on the time period, as the set reflects earlier deployment? Or was I thinking of something else?
Bravo52
So at Flankerman's request...here are a couple of photos of my cockpit. I mixed the colors from Tamiya acrylics and think it's a little too blue. The good news is when you put the canopy over the tub, it kind of darkens it a bit. These are the parts from the box. I'm always a little weary about using decals on the kit parts but this is really a "tune up" build for a 1/32 Su-27 (or is it "SU-27" ). I used a couple of left over parts from the photoetch as the trigger-rings (ejection handles) as the kit doesn't come with them. They are part number PE6 and aren't used in the 33-UB. I had to file a small spike off the top but it looks convincing. I sprayed the Akan Cockpit blue and it seemed really dark. When I mix more for the Su-27, I'll make it a bit more green.

Flankerman
Nice looking cockpit - really stands out. Note that the front end of the coaming should be grey - check out some photos. I only spotted it after I had installed the cockpit section into the fuselage. Keep it coming......... Happy Flankering Ken
Flankerman
Have you checked out Trumpeter's painting guide??? They give two schemes - A & B...... I can't find any photos that resemble scheme B. The scheme A pattern looks about right - but they have reversed the colours The light grey areas should be light blue - and vice versa !! The best painting guide I have found is here - click on the 'Su-27K (Su-33)' link under 'Sukhoi T10 Project Branches' at the bottom. Ken
Flankerman
Some more photos......This one shows how much bigger the non-folding stabilator and canards are on the Su-33UB.....All masked up ready for the first lick of paint.....Ken
adrianm2
Good progress there Ken. Have you decided on the paints you are going to use? I haven`t got the Akan set for the Su-33 yet. Do you think it it has got the right colours for the UB version? Cheers Adrian
General Designer
I'm not sure about the AKAN colours - I'm still trying to decide. Ken AKAN 73163/83163 - okAKAN 73164/83164 - ok AKAN 73165/83165 - very, very dark. I recommend mix 73064 and 73165 (or 83064 and 83165) 2:
Mick Drover
Ooh, I like the look of this. A timely release with the Kinetic single seater. The Russian colours always seem a dark art to me. Has anyone looked at paint mixes for Tamiya/Gunze paints. Reason I ask is that AKAN paints haven't found their way to Oz yet and importing them is a fairly $$$ process. Cheers, Mick
