Flipper
That's the clear coats on, quite pleased with it, only a couple of bits have been affected slightly by orange peal, but that's easy enough sorted. I'll now leave it for a week or two before it will get colour sanded and polished up. Anyway I hope you like it. Cheers
DarksideCowboy
Looks lovely mate, always loved the 458 and especially in red with a black roof. Loving the shine from the lacquer too. All the best Matt
Flipper
Just spent an afternoon cutting back the paintwork with 4000/8000/12000 sandpaper, then Tamiya Compounds, and finally several coats of Auto Glynn Polish The bonnet was the worst area for the dreaded orange peel. I'm pleased how it turned out.

Flipper
Cheers Mike, it's just the black roof that's not as shiney as I'd like, I hate trying to get a decent shine on black paint

Flipper
I've came to the conclusion that me and clear plastic parts dont go together very well. Thankfully I've got a spare set. Anyway that the grill, front land rear lights fitted. Once I've more of the interior fitted, I'll wire up the front and rear lights. MikeGTC
Looks good m8, but try going around the edges of the clear parts with a black marker, it will look even better then. on this I did the right headlight wit hthe black marker, left not: Mike
Flipper
It looks good mate, but I actually prefer the look of the lens without the black line (in real life I don't think the 458 has a black edge to the lights) I've just noticed the surround looks quite light it colour where it's actually a dark gun metal. Besides I'm struggling painting the black area round the Windows never mind round a headlamp Edited August 3, 2016 by Flipper
Flipper
Did some more work on the Fezza. All the glass fitted. The rear mesh fitted along with the exhausts which I heat stained. The arty shot of the interior fitted up to the shell. The rear engine bay, I carbon decaled, the side panels, with carbon decal sheets from scale Motorsport. Now I'm in the process of fitting up the lights, which to be honest are a nightmare to fit in such a small model. MikeGTC
Looking good man, next Ferrari I'll build will have a black roof to, or carbon. Mike
Flipper
Cheers Mike, the black has been a pain, I would go for the carbon look next time. I just couldn't get the black to polish up to a really nice shine, so I've bought some pure Carnauba wax, and it's come up a treat. Flipper
Not much left to do on it now. Here's a sneak of the engine bay all carboned up. Very finicky to do but well worth the effort I think
injidup
I must be in a minority because I don't really like the 458, but you are producing a beautiful model. Love the shine on the paint. Something to aspire to when I build my GTOs. Are the Ferrari logos on the cam covers painted or stickers? They look good.
sithman
looking good! Nice paint work! ( it was the difficulty of achieving these finishes that caused me to stop modelling cars!)

Something to aspire to when I build my GTOs. Are the Ferrari logos on the cam covers painted or stickers? They look good. They are a metal decal. You can get them at Hiroboy or BNA modelling. You get quite a few decals with it. That's the Ferrari finished, I've posted up the finished build pics on a different thread. It's not the best of kits but I liked the challenge. Hopefully you all like the finished item
